Were we talking to Stack pre the draft?

Cause if we foresaw him not being drafted and then being available to us in the new world order - that's really impressive.

If not then we moved like greased lightning to talk to him.

Either way the RFC was ahead of the curve in how to use this new set of laws.

Presumably we had him rated reasonably high in our estimations , the rest is risk vs reward

Yep. Stack was rated very highly by the draft watchers. So I guess we thought he was quality as well.

But that we got onto him so fast is interesting. I'd love to find out that we were way ahead of the game and other teams hadn't worked out the options when we were taking home the 'prize'. If Stack is able to be a genuine AFL footballer then we've just nailed another first round pick with a nothing selection. Anyways it need inside knowledge to tell us how on the ball the club was. Or Syd himself to say when we talked to him and how it all went.

I think it's more a case that only a handful of clubs could provide an adequately supportive structure to help him make the transition to the an AFL environment given his documented off field issues.

It's clear Richmond has a good formula and extensive support structure for helping indigenous kids work through life's transitional periods.

They were willing to back-in their system while other clubs probably but it in the "too hard" basket.

Presumably. I guess most clubs just put a line through him.

But I wonder if we talked to him first - before the draft. Or it was just opportunistic. Hopefully we planned it all out beforehand, in case Syd didn't get picked up.

Fairly spot on I’d think
 
Its really a no lose situation for Richmond to have a look and see at this kid who was rated a 1st rounder just 12 months ago but for clear reasons was not drafted.

We have the correct people in place with the administration, coaches and players to make the correct call on if we actually draft him or not and we will see him for 3 months to make an informed decision.

Seems to be fitting in well with the boys Rioli,Shai &Chol

Looks more,like jimmy krakeour to me , have never seen anyone resemble Maurice

Funnily enough I reckon Tambling would of thrived under our current game style

Tyson Tambling is still 4 years away 2022 draft if he is good enough

For some reason when I saw Maurice run it always looked like he was knee deep in mud (even on a dry hard strip), the MRJ video clip shows his son has the same style.

The system spits you out pretty quickly if you don't have what it takes mentally. So he/we will find out pretty quickly if that is the case. Very few if any players of late at Richmond haven't wanted to be there.
 
If he makes it, develops the tank required I hope they keep him as a mid. Seems to have some x factor about him and I really like that he's been playing as an inside mid. So much potential.
