Player Watch #44 Sydney Stack

Stack mustn't be 100% physically right. You would have to think he will be rested and hopefully comes back at or near his best next match.

The other thing is these brilliant young aboriginal movers like Bolton and Stack will not be appreciating the bad weather. I played a bit of country footy with an aboriginal player from Darwin and he came to us just before mid season and looked such a jet we based our whole game plan on him before he had even played a match. Right at this point the bad weather set in and he could not get a kick. So much so he was dropped to our seconds. Anyway later in the season as the weather improved so did he and he first won us the last available spot in the finals with 4 last 1/4 goals from a wing to guide us to a big comeback win in the last round. Then in the finals, again on top of the ground in dryer weather, he was astonishingly good. He was in a similar age group and a roughly similar style of player to Bolton and Stack as well. So I wouldn't panic if those players are struggling through a cold snap with lots of rain in the depths of the Melbourne winter. They are likely to be at their best when the whips are cracking on better days deep in September.

Pretty crap selection decision.

Do they seriously think Baker is a better backman than Stack?

They should have given Stack these last two games to go back to defence and get used to the role before finals.

Agreed, which suggests there might be more to it- niggling injury

17 games for Rioli and 13 goals is really poor given he is only avg 2.7 tackles, his career average is 3.3 tackles so he is having really poor year yet has still played 17 games this year looks like he is only getting a game cause of he's name... Mia Fevola has done something to this guy under some spell i swear...

The Fevolas are footys version of the Kardashians.

Was thinking the same. They"ll obviously need to work on it next year though.

Talking about weather, beautiful sunny day up on the GC today, 26°, just had a dip. Heard tomorrow another arctic blast is pushing through Melbourne.

Should have not got dropped in the first place.

Agree. But let us not be naive enough to think that his (potential) Syndemosis injury is linked to him being dropped.

Extremely disappointing, but obviously something that the match committee could have foresee .

Well done match commitee and Dimma talk about out smarting ourselves was a silly decision from the beginning. In two takes moving his position in the team and dropping him.😡
Fecking oath...absolute dumb sheets! Blind Freddy could see he needed a break! (and not the ankle!)

Looks likely he won’t get back if it’s bad and we probably can’t risk him now.

When the forward play wasn’t working he should have gone straight back to the backline. Agree with the talk about him being a much better defender than Baker who has struggled IMO. A real loss to our premiership aspirations.

Seeing lots of talk of syndamosis, season ending etc.

Where is this info coming from?

Or are you all doing a Tom Browne?

And those complaining about the injury being linked to beibg dropped have lost the plot.

Could have copped an Injury anywhere.

Exactly. I copped an injury getting up from the sofa today. It's that easy to get injured!!

The fact is I can understand if he was tired or injured and rested he wasn't right last week shouldn't have played. To be dropped because of form when there is a few others coasting around for a while doesn't make sense so we didn't have to be in that position.

While I don't disagree with those thoughts, All of that is completely irrelevant and unrelated to an injury though.

He was killing it in the first quarter today, and no sign of any problem. I remember seeing him stand of a contest near the interchange and thought it was Egg at first. There was nothing notable, no obvious collision, under a pack or impact that was drawn to the eye. Just damn unfortunate I would say.
