Sorry, but players aren’t immune to being dropped due to risk of injury. The match committee thought he needed a run in the twos, so that’s what they had him do.

Sucks he is injured, but that’s part of footy.
Some posters here are just plain stupid to blame the reason he got injured on his dropping.

In round 22? What is to be achieved with 2 rounds to go. IMO he had one ordinary game in foul conditions and bang, dropped. Then he plays on a dung hill against clumsy hacks and gone for the year. I just don’t get why he was dropped ahead of other poorer performing players.

Hey Caveman, did you go to the ground at Windy Hill? I'm interested to know why it was a dung hill. Granted I could only see on the live feed vision, but it looked in great knick that ground. The commentators also commented on what great knick the ground was too. It's a public park these days, open 24/7, and they said the grandstand side does get the most traffic, people walking dogs mainly. If you were there and walked on it perhaps you have some more intel to share. The grandstand side is the part of the ground I noticed Stacky limping off the contest.

Silly post, so now we are going to selection criteria based on potential injury? So we now stop training as well??????

Of course not.

Why is it so hard to accept that some people believe he shouldn’t have been plying vfl and hence was an unnecessary injury.
1) if he was sore then rest him
2) if he was dropped for one poor performance then it’s a head scratcher given there are others who’ve played plenty of poor ones throughout the year.
3) dropped for zero tackles? Isn’t he 7th for tackles? So this was an outlier.
4) Coaches want to try him in another role? You don’t do that at this stage of the season.
I don’t accept any of those reasons.

Sure he could do it at training or the seniors but you wear that, it’s obviously different. This just reeks of getting too cute.

Clearly I was being facetious re the ground. It’s Sunday morning so I guess you didn’t pick up on that. Point being he should have been sitting on his couch preparing for today.

But he wasnt

What if it was one of the “poorer performing players” that was dropped and got injured?

True but it’s the hypo

I cannot take the hypocrisy that’s all mate

So he did the same injury as lambert in 2018, which is a partial syndesmosis sprain. Lambert did the injury around a similar time and returned for finals after surgery a few weeks later in the QF vs Hawthorn. Just saying, I know they’ll be ultra conservative, but at least it’s not a full on sprain which can be devastating for careers

if he can get back to vfl in the qf week, he is a chance to play finals for the 1s

First year players will generally be more likely to be dropped after a poor game over more proven experienced players. Just how footy works.

We don’t even know if it was a form issue he may of been dropped for a disciplinary reason as well
Witch is fair enough as well

Unfortunate that he is injured but got to back in the coaching staff for the decision regardless of the reasoning

12 wins
0 draws
5 losses

Cumulative crowd (career) = 790,081
Average crowd (career) = 46,475

Cumulative crowd (MCG) = 493,419
Average crowd (MCG) = 61,677

Obviously it's a pointless discussion point now because he's out for the season, but I really wish he wasn't dropped after one bad game.

He'll be a big loss imo. Would have been the perfect guy to play on a Liam Ryan type I'd have him ahead of Broad and Baker (and I like Baker).

As much as I enjoyed today's win I'm ****ing heartbroken that Stack won't play for us in finals. I was barracking for him to become a premiership player this year. Just shit luck that he got injured when he was dropped.

Can't wait to see him back in the Yellow and Black round 1 next year. He will run right through Walsh.

Haven’t given up hope completely
Similar injury that Lambo copped last year and had surgery and still made it back

Definitely unlikely but still hope

Do you know whether Lambo had surgery on his though?

Yeah, was quoted on RFC page

Not saying every injury is the same, especially with younger players you have to be more conservative etc. just happy it doesn’t seem to be super serious (fingers crossed)
