Year 1, 2019 no problem: Year 2 I saw training up the Goldy, a fair bit of drills. Stack was in perfect shape. 2021 he's in jail for preseason but works his way back into the side. Club must see something in him to resign him. I think there is a sneaky chance the new grandstand could be renamed the SSS

What you are missing is when he got sent away frm the Gold Coast along with Kallum Koleman kones and came back to the club , He was again in terrible shape and the club sent him away to WA. He was in terrible condition at a time you would think sh!t i need to be tip top after the kebab fiasco

The club put conditions on his 1 year contract and he again comes back under done. Maybe we just call a spade a spade
Kid has massive talent but no work ethic away from the club and players like that dont usually last long at this level

He better have a great year in 2022 otherwise he will find his way onto the scrap heap of players that just didnt want it bad enough

This is where you need the captain to come up and gently tell him a few home truths. Things like if you want to play seniors you have to train like a senior. That doesn't mean you have to discipline him at all. You just remind him that games are not gifted to guys that don't put in the hard yards.
Ok, so Cotchin and other senior leaders at the club haven’t done this lol. No-one else needs to do anything more than what they have done already for this guy. Stack’s lazy.

Until he gets to the club, then he knuckles down.

He is flawed and everyone has noted that, from himself to us here to the coach, but he has lived a different life to nearly all of us and so it is taking him a bit longer to 'settle down'.

He will be 100% in a month or two, it really doesn't take that long for some young blokes to get up and running, he has shown that before. Different if it was RCD who needs a lot of work to get AFL fit, Stack seems to pick up fitness pretty easily evidenced by his first season, and the last where he got to Richmond in April and was cruising off the half back line 3 months later.

Lol. Have you had children or are you too young? When you tell a child something, if you only tell them once, you will be a very poor parent. Kids need to be reminded of what their priorities are constantly. This is true with many adults too, especially immature ones.

So on further investigation it appears that once again there was a bit of an overreaction to a media report about Stack struggling at the first session of the preseason, when the truth was that it was brief vision from the middle of a 140 minute session where the players had just competed 5-6 sets of 100m shuttle runs where Stack who isn't a known endurance athlete fell behind, but what was widely reported was that in the next part of training MRJ spent 4-5 minutes being treated for cramp while Stack was still moving around the track nicely, not only that but on the morning of the session Stack had taken part in an individual session with a few of the boys doing some extra work and was also one of the last 3-4 player to leave the track once the 140 minute session had finished due to him completing more run throughs.

I'll be trusting those that actually attend and watch complete sessions not the media who usually only get to watch the warm up and are then asked to leave and are often forced to try and get some footage from outside the fence and try and then work out exactly what was happening.

MRJ is in his first proper full preseason.....

Yeah I get that, but the point was that while Stack my have be struggling in the middle of a long first session of the preseason, he didn't stop running and he'd done extra work both before and at the end of the session, but because the media showed a clip showing him 'struggling' a lot of people came to the conclusion that he'd come back unfit.

Nice dressing up but the information that most Richmond supporters are going off is from training reports from dedicated richmond supporters who have been attending training for atleast 10 years i am aware and the media reports only supported this. There is no chance the Burge would say the things he did if the circumstances were s you wrote.

Whilst we all do agree he will get fit by mid march and has tremendous talent which nobody has ever questioned his inability to maintain fitness and do the off season work is very well known and been extensively mentioned and again supported by the conditional 1 year contract and again with Burge's comments

from where i sit he needs to have a sensational season to be given a extension for any longer than another 1 year after this year and lets hope he gets his sh!t together as that may be his last if he continues the way he has the last 3 seasons.

Good luck to the kid and hope he makes it but i wouldnt be betting my cash expecting him to be playing beyond 2023. hope im wrong

Those dedicated track watchers are the exact same people who I am basing what I posted. As I said in my post a few days back, maybe Stack needs to have the routine and group around him to train at his best, which I also said that we've seen proof of it before. Stack has come back in a condition that is allowing him to train full sessions that are running 2+ hours plus do extra work before and after the sessions, if he was as unfit as some are suggesting that wouldn't be happening as the club wouldn't allow him to push himself that hard given they tend to have everyone plans set to the minute detail.

spare me the old man *grumble grumble tiktok grumble grumble* bullshit.

what he does in his spare time (provided its reasonable and legal) is of no concern. He doesn't need to spend all 14 waking hours training. If he did, he'd probably get completely burnt out like everyone would. being happy in life is part of performing well, and if making cringey tiktok videos is his thing and it makes him happy, then so be it. its not like hes spending 10 hours every day with a production crew writing and performing, he's just doing shit in his spare time. you wouldnt be saying the same thing if he was reading, watching tv, going to the movies, going to a mates place/restaurant, playing video games, going to theatre/gigs/sports events etc.

just cause some people are old and can't understand this newfangled thing all the kids are into, doesn't make it some immoral vice that diverts our youth from the path of righteousness. lighten up and live a little.

You can tell from his highlights package that he is a gun, he is more skilled than Walsh .
Stack can take pack marks, take players out, kick goals and is evasive.

I’d take Walsh in a heart beat. From his 1st step on the field he’s been a gun and to think he’s only 21!! Reminds me of Judd / Ablett let’s hope injury doesn’t stuff him up

I mean I'm not gonna go hard on the old here but I agree with everything else you've said haha.

Players need to have a life outside of football and there's no difference to him being on social media to someone binge watching a TV show. Whether he makes it or not won't be due to use of a social media app, it's things like leading a healthy life off the track and then training hard when on it that will be the deciding factor, and ultimately that's up to his drive.

The vast majority of players in the AFL would need an escape from footy when they get home, however they choose to spend that time (within reason of course) is completely up to them and should be supported.

Anything Kane Cornes says should be barred from big footy! Horrible shock jock tactician, that tries to bait the majority to boost his listening numbers! Sooner we stop giving him ears to talk to the sooner hes forgotten about completely
