Alec Waterman
“Waterman played at half-back and looked very comfortable playing there for the first time. He won a lot of the ball, was strong in the contest and showed his craft and footy smarts. A couple of times forwards got out the back of him, but for his first time as a defender, he was one of our better players.”

I don't understand. Didn't he win a contract with us because of his performance as a forward?
Why is he playing in defence?
Is there any better time to experiment than in a VFL practice match? Seriously.
This is probably the principle; we would be experimenting with the role switch regardless of who was recruited. I think all people want is clearly articulated rationale.

I imagine they want to see how that cannon of a leg looks coming out of defence. It’s feasible.

Thinking Josh Hunt at Geelong type role, hopefully without the squibbing.

Old 'beach muscles' Hunt, built for show not for go. Can't imagine a player like that fitting in where we're currently at.. nice to have in a good side, a luxury we can't afford
