Why is the AFL taking so long to make a decision on whether Mckenna broke protocols. Just drags on and on.

Probably a good thing in this situation, there is no rush, hes not playing this weekend so they can make sure they have all the information.

Will also be speaking with the club, and his agent about any possible breaches. If he hasn't breached or it is grey they will be going over their protocols.
All takes time.

Yeah fair enough. I suppose I've just seen it simplistically as just working out where he has been and who he has had contact with but there's obviously a lot more to it. Needs a thoughtful and considered approach.

So basically time served, and he would have been okay if he asked for approval first. He visited his host family after the inconclusive/low-level positive test anyway.

And he's out of iso now I think, but Stewart isn't..?

Essendon Football Club accepts the one-week sanction handed to Conor McKenna by the AFL in relation to a breach of the AFL’s current Return to Play protocols.

McKenna was found to be in breach of the AFL’s living arrangements due to visiting his former host family.

Had McKenna sought formal approval to visit his former host family, he would have been cleared under the guidelines.

McKenna has now served his sanction and will be available for senior selection this week ahead of the Bombers’ clash with Collingwood on Friday night.

General manager of football Dan Richardson said the club was continuing to fully support McKenna.

“This is a minor breach, but a reminder no less to all players of the importance in adhering to the strict protocols the AFL have put in place to ensure the health and safety of those involved in our game, as well as the community,” Richardson said.

“The visit to his former host family is in no way related to returning a positive result to the COVIC-19 test given the visit was after his testing was completed on the Friday. We accept that Conor should have first checked with our club's compliance officer prior to visiting the family.

“The club will continue to fully support both Conor and James Stewart, who remains in quarantine, during what has been a challenging period.”

Just bring him in. Is clearly in our best side and finding form in those Mickey Mouse games would be hard anyway
He hasn't played any footy in how long? I'd give him one game in the scratchy first tbh

Stuff the 12 on 12 scratchy, he was picked to play Dees, he’ll be fine...straight in
The 12 on 12 was due to necessity, with more players fit there'll likely be 15-18

Id usually agree and be in the same boat, but i reckon bringing him in to play after what he's been through with the media scrutiny would give the boys a real lift. Remember he was selected to play only a week ago so fitness isnt an issue.
