I'm no Trump fan, but credit must be given. He had no support in the GOP nomination and won it comfortably. He then had little support in the presidential campaign, but ran an excellent campaign in order to get elected. Think Clinton would have beaten the other main GOP contenders.
I agree he ran the exact campaign he needed to...not so sure about the Clinton claim, too hard to tell imo...her campaign strategy was a direct reaction to Trump the person, who knows what approach she would have taken against Rubio, Cruz, Bush, or Kasich??

In any case, we have seen after the election that the result swung Trump's way very much due to a cry for help from those that feel left behind, mainly in an economic sense. Immigrants, the wall, Islamic terrorism...excellent when it comes to whipping them up, but it was the promise of jobs, and lots of 'em, that got him over the line in PA, MI, WI...46 EC votes he won by a bee's dick.

He hasn't really got very long to start delivering but the moron can't see that this lurching from one shitstorm to the next is just eating away at the time he has...they will start turning on him soon enough if the news cycles are continually full of Obama tapps rather than factory re-openings (although many would argue - me included - he won't ever be able to keep the promises he has made...)

Had he just put his head down and focused...fmd...he could perhaps have made himself untouchable, and that comes from someone who honestly wishes a terminal illness upon the bloke.

No news would be the absolute best news...he just can't see it. All his life it's been about the razzle dazzle...sorry Donny, it doesn't work that way when the buck actually does stop with you.

If he is running again in 2020, it's entirely possible he'll be re-elected.

What I think will be interesting is whether his capturing of much of the rust belt will be offset by a weakening of the Republican hold in the South. Much will depend on how he goes down with African Americans and Hispanics; it's not completely beyond the realms of possibility he could put himself in danger of losing states like Florida (which swings notoriously anyway), but also potentially Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina and...well maybe even Texas.

Nah, I don't think he will win.

Yeah, the sitting-president thing is a big call, but if the mid-terms go the way of the polling then he's going to face a hostile House. Senate will still be Republican but only barely and at heavy risk in 2020. At that point, assuming the Russia stuff is still in play, the Dems will be holding hearing after hearing into what the hell is going on, exposing the corruption and decadence of Trump and his cronies. They'll be looking to move towards impeachment.

Much will also depends on who the Dems go with though.

If it's a similar candidate to Clinton they will go a long way to shooting themselves in the foot.

My point, though, was more that Trump strengthening his hold on an Iowa or Ohio won't mean much if he pisses off enough non-whites that he loses a Georgia or Texas.

Connecting the relentless and fanciful Russian insinuations with illegal wire tapping was a brilliant move by the orange man.

It's certainly been a bucket of cold water to his critics on this thread too.

I agree...but as I noted above, the fine lines he is walking in Michigan (<11k votes), Wisconsin (<23k), and Pennsylvania (<45k) will be the issue to watch I reckon...all up less than 100k got him the WH.

If the jobs don't arrive and he comes off as if he's just wasting his time with useless shit like wire-tapps...he will be in big trouble. He promised them the world and they were pissed off beforehand...imagine how angry they'll get if/when he doesn't deliver...

You certainly have a different take on things. All that winning huh?

Quite true. If the jobs do arrive, though, then he might well retain at least some of those. Maybe he could even tip a state like Minnesota if that happens.

It's those states I mentioned that I will also be watching though. He didn't win Arizona by much at all, nor Georgia by a huge amount. And his margins in Florida and North Carolina weren't big. So who knows.

As someone who wanted him to be elected purely from an accelerationist perspective, I must say me and the comrades are very happy with the result so far. He is doing exactly what we thought he would, and we got to avoid Clinton at the same time.

People literally rioting in the streets over AG appointments is a welcome change from the malaise and quasi asleep previous 8 years. Or 50 years actually.

Make America Great Again is a slogan that you can't run on in 2020 if you've had four years and you've managed to help people by cutting their healthcare, let companies rip them off, and unemployment hasn't dropped (given it's at 4.5%? already under Obama), don't see it dropping, more likely to go back up.

Trump will be primaried as a sitting President, and the Dem's will go left, and younger, with a candidate. Hopefully that leads to the crushing.

*still think there's a greater than 50% chance Trump doesn't serve out the full term. He's struggling in week 7 for christs sake.

Trump is the creature of the media. He will keep attacking any negative press as fake. He will deny any wrong doing. He will ignore any inconvenient facts as false.
His recent out burst against Obama is proof he will sink to any low. Use any lies & imaginary scenario, use any threats, cause as much confusion as he can to divide the nation & attract enough loony supporters.
I'd be surprised if we dont see some war situation arise. That will attract more attention to him, as if he'd care who dies or how many die. Its all about Trump & his attention seeking ego.
We live in interesting times :)
