I thought the irreverence toward McCain being captured was hilarious. Americans have a sick obsession with the bravery of any incompetent loser that serves due to a lack of career options.

I, for one, do not respect anyone that decides to join an army that goes around killing innocent people. The dude from Hacksaw Ridge is exempt from my criticism.
Let's hope that you never have to rely on any soldiers having to help you out, then.

Why?

Is the Australian army not supposed to help out those that disagree with them? If that's the case, they're a bit petty.

Do you think that people who dislike the police should also hope they never have to rely on the police?

Don't our taxes pay for these services regardless of our dislike for them?

The remarkable thing about all this is that while the Republicans spent so much effort opposing the ACA while BA was in power it didn't occur to them to have an alternative ready to go should they have won power in 2016.

In other words, what they are doing now should have been thrashed out prior to the 2016 election. No wonder they are currently in such a mess about health care. What a rabble.
The complete lack of anything remotely resembling policy detail from Trump was a line of attack that wasn't pushed hard enough in the election. Biden will have a field day in three years time.

His slogan should be simple "The President is an idiot".j

You're surely not saying that people only join the services that are incompetent loser that serve due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

Who respects anyone who kills innocent people?

I'd say a reasonably high percentage.

People like Malifice are probably the exception rather than the rule.

I think Gough put it well, the army takes in those that are too dumb to pass the police testing.

And you'd be an idiot for think so.

Do you think people join the services as pilots as due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

Do you think people join the services as Engineers as due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

Do you think people join the services to become vessel watchkeepers or vessel navigators due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

Do you think people join the services as Tradesman due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

Do you think people join the services as a Doctor due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

Oh and tell us about your qualifications, skills and job will you?

Anecdotally speaking, everybody I know that has joined the army has done it because they couldn't see another path forward.

If you're pro-military, that's good for you! I just don't subscribe to the same idea that our military is something we should cherish and be thankful for.

You didn't answer my question(s);

I made it clear that I think a high percentage do join because of no other path forward. I think I was crystal clear in that. I'm sure pilots, engineers and doctors in the army are quite intelligent.

I'm studying commerce at UniMelb, which I've stated on here before. Are you finished getting so riled up now?

I apologise if I've offended you with my anti-military opinions. I guess it's hard to respect a collective when they've been involved in destroying the Middle-East over the past couple of decades.

There's no requirement for me to be sycophantic and pretend that I care about our army or ANZAC Day etc.

Now, moving on, because this argument is derailing this thread.

What do you mean? Could it be voting for symbolic repeal of Obamacare is easy when you know that Obama will veto it? But you wouldn't dare vote for it if it was going to get past the president and actually become law?

Republicans in the Senate are a massive bunch of hypocritical posers and have done more damage to America than Trump will.

It seems to me the height of hypocrisy to have no respect for someone who might at some stage risk their lives to save yours.

I would actually agree with that if our soldiers were actually involved in saving our lives.

They spend their time in the Middle-East etc. That has absolutely nothing to do with protecting us. It's been 70 odd years since Australia was even sort of attacked by Japan.

You should go to the police thread where people are attacking the police constantly and say the same thing as this :)

Thats cute, a uni student calling servicemen and woman incompetent losers that serve due to a lack of career options outside of the services?

So tell me, what does a vessel watchkeeper, vessel navigator, pilot, tradesman, engineer or a Doctor do that makes them an incompetent loser who only joined due to little career options outside of the services?

Now, moving on, because this argument is derailing this thread.
Easy lets catch up at Melbourne Uni and we can talk, the 1st drink is on me?

Wow, I think I made it clear that I made provisions for doctors, engineers and pilots etc.

Sure, why not?

Class goes back next week, when are you free?
