Your critiques could be applied to any western democracy. Is it even possible to have a functioning democracy without some of the 'intel agencies' you decry?

You see anyone who partakes in the game corrupted by the game?

I agree on the outsized influence that corporations have in our body politic.

What are your policy positions then? Do you believe in universal healthcare as a right/optimal goal, worker protections, more/less regulation, tax cuts. These are all pretty much issues where republicans and democrats are generally diametrically opposed.
Yep. Sounds like what Plato wrote about all those years ago.

The clues are on the cover of Abbey Road, he's barefoot and part of the rego on the Beetle is 28IF which would have been his age had he lived.
*cue twilight zone music*
Don't get me wrong, I don't mind a good conspiracy theory. But I like to keep those things in some sort of perspective and dominate my thinking like, err, certain other posters.

The "Paul Is Dead" theory is a great case in point. Apparently we are supposed to believe that at the drop of a hat, the Beatles were able to replace the "dead" Paul McCartney with a bloke who looked like him, sounded like him, was a genius songwriter, just happened to be a multi-instrumentalist like him and was also left-handed?

And they did this around the time they started recording one of the great all-time rock albums? I know they were good, but..........

I wonder if they had replacements on call for George, Ringo and John as well? You know, just in case. :)

Was the other widow white?
So the Staff Sargent who put the call on speaker, congresswoman and the widow are all lying?
According to one source, what he said was: "They know the risk, they know what they signed up for, but they still volunteer to put their lives on the line for their fellow Americans. We owe them a debt that can never be re-paid".

So they're not lying by claiming Trump said "he knew what he signed up for", but US politics is dirty and words can be twisted.

Not sure of the point of your post and why you didn't quote mine in full?

Very misleading...

I for one believe the anonymous source that stood up for trump and showed him expressing empathy and sympathy, in complete sentences, in an appropriate way, because history shows us that's how he always acts....

The only thing in America that will improve during his Presidency is his handicap.
Fake news provider Sports Illustrated on the President's golfing abilities.
Here's what SI found: "Trump will sometimes respond to a shot he duffed by simply playing a second ball and carrying on as if the first shot never happened. In the parlance of the game, Trump takes floating mulligans, usually more than one during a round. Because of them it is impossible to say what he has actually shot on any given day, according to 18 people who have teed it up with Trump over the last decade, including SI senior writer Michael Bamberger, who has done so nine times."

Trump has also claimed to be an 18-time club champion. (He claimed this in an angry tweet calling Mark Cuban a loser.) It's certainly possible Trump won those events, but SI couldn't find any supporting evidence.

Who knows what was said when we have no proof, but it would adequately explain the accounts from both sides.

Oh we know. He did his usual ham fisted attempt that would have been completely lacking in empathy and a mess, enough to upset a grieving widow, he then lied about it, was proven to have lied by Kelly, so now someone flack is out with a "quote" of what he said to try and paint it in the best light. No way he said what was quoted.

Can I ask it a better way - which country in your opinion is closest to the ideals you seek?
Currently the U.S represents the biggest danger to world peace & a nuclear Armageddon....So I'll say Russia by default.

As has been obvious from the start....The Declaration is pretty well close to my ideal....Which is not to say that the current system there bears any resemblance to it's principles....The very opposite in fact.

I'm going to see Paul McCartney play in December.

I reckon there's a fair chance though that Procrastinator35 thinks I will be seeing a fake and that the real Macca died in 1966.
If he's wearing a skivvy with matching polo-neck, then it's a fair bet that it's the real deal.

Yep....The Iran Contra's back in 1979....Those of us still old enough to remember the trials of the appointed fall guy in Oliver North, know it well.
That's how the Clinton's copped their first big break under old Georgy Bush....2 no-names willing to sell their souls for a shot at power & fame....Bush senior & Kissinger had been grooming them as the patsy's to corrupt the DNC from within ever since....And they've succeeded.
While I believe a majority of people would believe that some politicians are corrupt, most cannot allow their consciousness to grasp the extent of the systemic and controlled corruption in the US over the past century or so.

Similar to the JFK assassination - a significant portion of the population disbelieve the LHO lone gunman story, but a sizable proportion of those same disbelievers cannot fathom that anyone within the government/CIA would have been complicit.

But along comes an obviously execrable orange douche who, because he lacks a silver tongue and a media filter, cops more abuse than some of the war criminals that have preceded him.

It isn't about the 'silver' tongue it is the forked tongue.
I can't recall anyone who lies as often as he does.
Really don't see why so many on here either don't get it or excuse him? SAD!
