I honestly find Trump markedly more honest, sincere and effective then his predecessors Obama or Bush, Clinton Bush or Reagan
Sincere yes, although is prone to changing mind (not necessarily bad in itself, just the thought process is more public due to his tendency to tweet frequently)
Honest well your comparison is with politicians, in general they are compulsive liars so to be more honest isn’t hard.
Effective- unsure. Got some good economic numbers but the shutdown seems opposite of governing (maybe this is how he will balance budget if he stops paying expenses but still collects taxes..)

You are very much an emotional person rather than a factual one arent you. Tests on the subconscious show pretty much everyone discriminates based on race. Time to face reality.
Not just on race but on first impressions based on prior experiences. Everyone has subconsciously put the person they interact with into a category; bias can be overcome but it needs a lot of self awareness.

Who said anything about free?

Does anyone get free ID in order to open a bank account?

Unfortunately there will always be morons who believe in forms of socialism.
I can’t remember (was a child at time) but when the Australia card (Id card) was proposed, was it going to be free?

The issue with a flat cost ID card is that it discriminates against the poor (choose between eating and ID card for example). Could argue that ID card funded by government via taxes helps with security.

Of course one of the arguments that sunk the Australia card was fear of privacy breaches, distrust of government “having our records easily available “ etc

He doesn't mean that it doesn't exist at all. Just that it doesn't to any significant degree. Which is correct. You are all deliberately misunderstanding him in order to feel victorious!
How do you know what he means?
He didn’t qualify his statement
Therefore deserves the ridicule

The e-verify system which allows employers to see whether an applicant is legal or not has been down since December 22 because of the shutdown. Thanks to Trump it's easier than ever for people to find work.
Well the last sentence is a good thing at the individual personal level (better to be able to work than not)

Gabbard-Sanders would be a good ticket imo.
Gabbard (to my limited knowledge) seems to be a candidate who could swing part of trumps base with similar desire to be more isolationist and less intervention.

Per interaction with police, white people are more likely to be shot by them than black people. The myth that unarmed black people are overrepresented in police shooting stats has been disproven a thousand times. Your opinion is based on emotion, and not facts.

States it’s been disproven 1000 times. When questioned for proof cites a Wikipedia post. 🤦‍♂️

Haha, I think we're pretty much diametrically opposed on how to do things, but that's OK. Interesting that you support Medicare For All and campaign finance reform/repeal of Citizens United, and are on the fence with minimum wage... they're basically the three issues that need to be addressed immediately. Perhaps we aren't that different on desired outcome, only ideology?

Appreciate the debate, and I'm sure it'll continue.

The funny thing about FK is he says he supports things like Medicare for All, repealing Citizens United and environmental protection, but then he actively engages in double think or cognitive dissonance to continue supporting Trump (or at least refusing to criticise him on these issues).

Trump is opposed to Medicare for All, has installed SCOTUS Justices that support Citizens United, has done nothing on getting money out of politics, and has actively rolled back environmental regulations and gutted the EPA.

Exactly. We categorise subconsciously. And one of the simplest categories we all make is categorize those in to uses and thems. Those who are worthy of our empathy, protection and love and those who we see as competitiors or even enemies and other races often fall into the them category as do various other forms of categoies. People from other religions, people from the wrong side of the tracks, people of a different social status, even different hair colour. And this seperation is done before we are even consciously aware of them. We can use reasoning to overrule our subconcious cateogization but as you say, it often takes awareness of how our subconscious mind works. Without that knowledge we instead tend to just use reasoning to justify our subconscious views.

But Bernie has other Policies the other Dems won't run on, like cheaper Pharmaceuticals (most of the other Dems get donations from the Pharma Companies), Free College and Large Donation Money Out of Politics
Of those three there will be plenty of dem candidates that will run on cheaper pharma and big money out of politics. You can argue they won’t actually do it when in power, and Bernie no doubt will try, but they as we see with Obama and trump, wanting to do something and actually being able to do it with congress are two different things.

Bernie also has been on wrong side of gun control.

His main opponent in the dem primary won’t be a Clinton centerist, unless Biden runs, and really hope he doesn’t

Seems a matter of time now before information detailing Trump’s compromising by the Russian state emerges, the below in addition to his leaking of classified intelligence and his campaign’s conspiracy to undermine the electoral process are pointing towards something of that nature as the only logical endpoint of this sage. The flood of revelations which have been buried in the shutdown controversy may also point to Trump’s motivations there, keep the shutdown going to distract his base and the wider public from the sordid allegations of conspiring against the American state with Russia.

President Trump has gone to extraordinary lengths to conceal details of his conversations with Russian President Vladimir Putin, including on at least one occasion taking possession of the notes of his own interpreter and instructing the linguist not to discuss what had transpired with other administration officials, current and former U.S. officials said.
Trump did so after a meeting with Putin in 2017 in Hamburg that was also attended by then-Secretary of State Rex Tillerson. U.S. officials learned of Trump’s actions when a White House adviser and a senior State Department official sought information from the interpreter beyond a readout shared by Tillerson.
The constraints that Trump imposed are part of a broader pattern by the president of shielding his communications with Putin from public scrutiny and preventing even high-ranking officials in his own administration from fully knowing what he has told one of the United States’ main adversaries.

One of the reasons the progressive base is skeptical of everyone other than Bernie is because they were promised big changes in 2008 and got very little.

Yeah Bernie will be ancient by the time 2020 rolls around but the base trust him to actually fight for what they want. He has a track record of it.

What I will say for Trump is he is smart enough to keep throwing red meat to his base (ie the religious nutters, gun nuts and alt right types). His base will turn out for him in 2020. That is a guarantee.

The Dems need someone to fire up their base to come out for them like in 2008. I think Bernie is the only one that can realistically do that.

Spot on.

Surely Trump is not a russian spy

Be that as it may, the only way it could result in anything of consequence is if ...

- Trump to have been involved with the Russians AND ...

- Trump to have been doing something very illegal with them such as treason. Unlikely financial crimes (eg: money laundering) or campaign finance crimes (eg: Russia funnelling money to Trump campaign through the NRA) would cut it. AND ...

- Illegal activity to have been done with nefarious intent. Unlikely being groomed as a “useful idiot” would cut it. AND ...

- The US authorities to have incontrovertible evidence of said illegal activity AND said nefarious intent. Just having witness testimony won’t cut it - he can bat them away with aplomb. AND ...

- These details to be made public. AND ...

- This to all happen while he is still alive and still in office.

That’s a very high bar to jump over.

The flood of revelations which have been buried in the shutdown controversy may also point to Trump’s motivations there, keep the shutdown going to distract his base and the wider public from the sordid allegations of conspiring against the American state with Russia.

Unlikely.

His base are more interested in him building a wall than they are about him colluding with Russia.
