Actually you are wrong. Capitalism requires certain social norms that bind people together so they can function in an economy with little government interference.

Open borders are used as a form of multicultural warfare to bring in people from diverse backgrounds who can't be bound together via social norms instead needing large amounts of government legislation. Capitalism can't survive in such an environment.

We can only be free if we are bound together by a set of basic social norms.

Because without the UN, everbody, every nation could do whatever they wanted with complete immunity! Think about it? You and I live in communities and as imperfect as they maybe, we do get do know people and we do get to solve most problems because we live in a community where there is some semblance of communication some sort of authority, a prefecture. The world's nations, before the advent of the UN were just tribes who lived an uneasy peace until a bigger tribe with help from another tribe invaded/colonised.

If you can get a map of the world from around the 1950's or so, you'll see countries painted in different colours signifying under which colonial power these countries were subordinate too. The UN is a product of progress and enlightenment. The UN is not the problem; the problem is that the Trumps and Morrisons want to do whatever they want to do without any recourse to the rest of the world. The UN provides some sort of stability and restraint, Trump's actions are grossly destabilising and if the UN crumbles then the world is staring into the abyss.

If there was no UN, the US would have invaded Guatemala, Mexico, Venezuela, Cuba etc etc OVERTLY, now, they have to "influence" overthrows/coup d'états covertly. Without the UN, they would just invade, China would just move in and crush Hong Kong, Russia would sweep through the Ukraine and keep heading east with the support of a hotch-potch of other countries, the US would continue through Iraq into Iran with the help of the Saudi's, Israel would launch massive killing machines to wipe out all Palestinians and most of the Lebanon, Africa would be far worse than it is today and believe me, Africa today is the "wild wild west" but without the UN where the world gathers to listen and debate, to recommend and help, the whole of Africa would be Vietnam of the 1960's.

Russia and China are sensitive to world opinion that is, they do as much as they dare and that is a a direct result of the UN structure. The UN is the place that everyone must front and answer too. If there were no UN, it would be a free for all. Diplomacy is still a very valuable commodity in international relations and Trump is the exception to the rule - he's an idiot and it's not America's military might that stops China and Russia doing what they want, it's the balance between economic imperative and world opinion on the one hand and aggression on the other.

When countries want to complain or take issue with something that another nation is doing or wants to do, they have a forum within which to speak and that is the UN. Do not underestimate the pivotal role the UN plays in keeping some semblance of peace and humanity in the world although sometimes it seems that even the best of intentions can not completely control naked aggression.

In a "do what you please" situation where smaller nations do not have a place to be heard, we go back to pre WW1 where military alliances ruled the day and imperial expansion was only halted by all out war.

You just don't get it! The United nations is the place where the countries of the world meet. It is the place where people/nations express grievances. The UN has a set of Charters that were designed to keep nations from invading "just because". International Law is taken seriously by all nations because the impact of sanctions can devastate a country whether that country be the US, Russia, China or Bhutan.

It took two massive world wars to finally establish the UN and it's presence has given us relative stability. No one says it's perfect and it's not perfect because the "big boys" try and undermine it and it is because they have not been entirely successful in undermining it, that we still have the mechanisms in place to * full on war!

You seem to really worry about invasion from China. 40 years or so ago, the same right wing capitalist mob were trying to make people s**t themselves over an invasion by Indonesia - it's a classic political ploy, the Liberals have made it central to their campaigning.

There is buckley's chance of China invading Australia because any rudimentary study of where China is heading and what it's focus is will tell you that invasion of Australia or anywhere else is about as likely as East Timor invading us.

Maybe go to city states and let rural areas be their own countries. However the city states will be far richer.
