Can’t say that he didn’t do everything he possibly could to get selected; unfortunately just was too slow to be a KPD and not skilled enough to be the floating defender.

Will hopefully get a gig somewhere else; West Coast would seemingly be the most likely. Especially if the AFL give a package similar to North and expand the rookie list for the Eagles.

In terms of getting a pick or two for him I highly doubt a team would make a trade for him. I don’t believe that you can trade a player ON to a Rookie list (can FROM one); with the MSD, SSP and rookie drafts being how that can occur. I don’t think that there is any team that would be willing to give up a primary list spot for Blight as it currently stands. Could be wrong, but that’s my reading of the rules.

The best thing for Blight’s career may funnily enough to not hit the games trigger (100% believe that was why he wasn’t picked at the back end of the year) get delisted and to be put on a rookie list where he has more chance of playing.

But was an ultimate professional so best of luck to him.

Think you could be right there. Eagles might have indicated they will take him first pick of the rookie draft and we recognise he doesn't have much in the way of trade value. Seems like we made the right call in limiting his games if our preference is to sign Young up instead. Reckon he is a chance to still make it but not with us.

Wild guess, but I have a small suspicion Blight was trying to star - in terms of maxing his chances to get the ball - rather than play his role for the benefit of the team. The Cumberland effect. There was definitely something that put the club off Blight, suspect it will be along these lines.

Right call IMO. We've got plenty of KPD depth to work through and having the VFL side being unbalanced because we're trying to fit all the KPP in just doesn't help in development.
