Starting to think the Dems might actually hold on to the House after these success stories.

Biden has both withdrawn from Afghanistan and killed Al Zawahiri in Kabul after that withdrawal.

Trump will be throwing stuff at the TV as we speak. My guess is that he'll blame the "deep state" for not allowing him to kill al Zawahiri.

Dems have killed 2 leaders of Al Qaeda and ended a war. GOP started the war and couldn't finish it.

Lolll so what do the melters from 6 years ago have to say about current plans for Pelosi to visit Taiwan? Have we learned yet to not buy into every headline!?

Some of the talking points shared in there are real doozies. "Akshually it is worse to accept a phone call than it is to supply weapons."
Enjoy my friends, peace be upon you.

Pelosi has always had the fortitude to criticise the Beijing ruling elite which dates back to at least three decades. Holding a pre democracy message at Tianamen square in 1991 which resulted in her camera crew being arrested. Her public criticism of China's entry into the WTO, criticism of Beijing's 2000 Olympics bid (against Sydney) and her public criticism of Beijing hosting the summer Olympics in 2008 due to human rights abuses.

And hilarious when these Republicans (Marjorie Taylor Greene one example) who were claiming that Biden was a CCP puppet now literally slamming Pelosi's decision to visit Taiwan and 'incite tensions'.

While two consecutive quarters of negative growth is often considered a recession, it's not an official definition. A nonprofit, non-partisan organization called the National Bureau of Economic Research determines when the U.S. economy is in a recession. An NBER committee made up of eight economists makes that determination and many factors go into that calculation.
this is some weird US exceptionalism

the UK and for most "practical purposes" the rest of the world would define it as 2 negative quarters of growth. Only the USA would cloud it with an extra layer of grifting bullshit artists

Catching it twice in a stunningly short period of time is stunningly unfortunate and something I would’ve thought only possible for a world leader chronically hit with ailments such as Bolsonaro.

I, of course, wish Joe (and any friends or family of you and anyone else here) a much fuller recovery than I do Jair.
i'd be wondering if it was prolonged viral shedding rather than active virus myself

Empty vessels.
They represent nothing and stand for nothing.
Like their hero Donald Trump.
He stands for nothing, except himself.
America has s**t him and their like.

They represent their own money interests like a certain ex PM and ex foreign minister of ours that just spew CCP propaganda since taking up high paid jobs for CCP controlled businesses after leaving parliament.

I'm glad the ole battleaxe went through with it and touched down in Taiwan, but it is time for some of you to reflect on how your opinions are formed and how easily swayed you are. Acknowledging Taiwan and continuing to build the wall are just this week's examples of actions that were pure evil when contemplated Trumpf but, if you squint hard enough, are akshually a good and important thing when done by Dems lmaoooooo.

wtf are you on about?

maybe you should quote the relevant posts, if there are any…. Because it looks like you are trying to extrapolate recent news reports to comments BF members have made. Where are these alleged comments that support building wall, for example?

Son I popped a link up a few posts back for the Taiwan stuff. The wall I haven't seen being justified on BF but have seen excuses made elsewhere and comparatively little outrage. Get off social media m8 it is just cultish. Come have a bbq with ya boy FK instead, maybe shout me a few lap dances at a brissy gentlemen's club, whatevs man.

The Taiwan thing in relation to the US is much more complicated than Trump's wall.
Yes, it can be used as a political news cycle point scorer domestically. Pelosi wanted this trip for a long time I believe. There was a bipartisan congressional delegation a month or two ago.
But there are much bigger issues surrounding it.
Strategic Ambiguity is fine if the status quo is being kept. But it's not. China is always making moves to restrict and harass Taiwan. When there is a furor, as the Pelosi thing is causing, it is because China is making it. They choose to blast it out. And every time they do something beyond just barking, they usually get the opposite effect of increasing awareness of and support for Taiwan. The announcement of Chinese live fire drills near the island. One area is around 20 km from major port. Obviously timed for Pelosi's landing, if they go through with it, the world will condemn them. Taiwan's situation and profile will be heightened. One thing I've noticed in newscasts is the increased use of terms like 'self-governing Taiwan' and important facts like the PRC has never controlled the island. It used to be ONLY 'which China considers a breakaway region' or 'a part of China'. Never the Taiwanese perspective. All this thanks to Chinese belligerence. The world would happily ignore the issue if China would keep cool on the little things.
This time, I think most of China's outrage is squarely aimed at its own domestic audience. Most of the global actors already knew that the 'Chinese people would be upset'. The military moves like sending stealth missile ships east of Taiwan (not too stealthy I guess :)) and more planes cutting a corner of the ADIZ have been happening for more than a year.

Brandon's had a good week, despite the Covid.

PACT Act
Assault Weapons Ban
Clean strike on Al-Qaeda leader

In a sensible world he would have a higher approval rating.
Whilst there is a technical recession on - not a chance.

Good news out of Kansas though with the vote on the anti-abortion amendment to the state consitution failed spectacularly (by about 25 points).

Apparently the messaging from Trumpservatives is that you can't take credit for killing a dead man

Mirrors their nation-wide polling.

70% of people in the US are against making abortion illegal.

The words sensible and USA don't collide in the sentence in recent years.

It's all about the messaging. Here where I am, I experienced a transition from single-party rule to open democracy. The elections were the easy part, the bureaucracy (with massive iron rice bowl perks) and the media (95%) still in the hands of the Stalinist party's people. The media particularly were disgraceful in the early days of democracy. Basically anything that could give negative vibes about the old nationalist guard was, at best, confined to a single line or ignored completely; be it a indicted local political kingpin who divorces his wife so she can run for his seat or a dead body found on a isolated balcony rooftop of party headquarters. Their families were also off limits to the media no matter how vile they were.
Meanwhile, the opposition who had won the presidency, but not the legislature, had to endure never-ending news cycles of petty, often fabricated stories and allegations. Their families, of course, were hounded especially the Pres's daughter who was a bit of a firecracker. She was a dental assistant or something who didn't take kindly to being door stopped daily about political s**t. Her anger of course led to a 8 year feeding frenzy by the press.
And so we look at the US. Fox 'News' gets the most viewers, their opinionists that is, not their actual news. And as everyone on the Earth except Fox viewers have seen, those PoSs spout BS after BS daily on their shows. Biden could cure cancer, give everyone $10K, and make Viagra free and those viewers wouldn't have a clue. It's shameful.
