Geelong also has a defined onfield system that has been successful, which results in two things: players commit to the strategy; and new players who come in only need to play their role. They don't magically discover players better than other teams like the media likes to fawn over, the players that come in play a known system and when they play all they have to focus on is playing their role with 22 other players around them that know their role. Contrast this to us where we had 5 new systems in 4 years, no player is fully comfortable with the system and our lack of success leads to a feeling that new players need to win games off their own boot / do more than their role.Feel a club like Geelong with a competent development program, could improve his kicking and make a player of Cooper.
But we don't (apart from ruckmen), we never seem to improve any areas of weakness of any players we pick up. It's why so many seem to peak in their first couple of years, then stagnate or go backwards.

Will he play forward or back? Seems like he can do both.
