Nerves count for something. Standard mid season draftee that has 1-2 elite attributes (which he has) and you hope you can develop them into a good-average player.

Feel a club like Geelong with a competent development program, could improve his kicking and make a player of Cooper.

But we don't (apart from ruckmen), we never seem to improve any areas of weakness of any players we pick up. It's why so many seem to peak in their first couple of years, then stagnate or go backwards.

Biggest issue for him from a list perspective is that he's here at the wrong time. With us most likely losing 2 rookie spots to begin with he will struggle to keep a spot especially with maley reportedly being given a deal and rhj also aswell. Would prefer this kid for a year on the list over corr but reckon he'll be gone

You may well be right, in which case IMO it raises the question of why pick him up in the first place.

If the kid doesn't get at least a pre-season in a professional environment, what's the point?

Fwiw - I saw him in that Lions game at Arden St where he was deadset catching it for fun.

100% agree. No chance he gets tipped out. He has the potential to be the best grab in the comp.

Good luck to the kid and I hope he makes it but you have to seriously question why we keep recruiting guys who cannot kick. MSD draft picks it doesn’t give me as much angst but we have a list full of unreliable kicks. We are behind the times and it’s one of the reasons we are where we are.
