You're going for a job in a supermarket, the standards aren't exactly high. Just rock up in smart casual with neat hair, I did the interview in jeans and a shirt and I was fine.

On a side note I interviewed for both Coles and Safeway at the same time. Coles had a 5 minute one-on-one interview where after glancing at my report they tried to get me to do night-fill while Safeway had a 1 hour group interview folowed by a 15 minute one-on-one store interview asking me everything they could think of from available hours to what sports I liked. Anyone think thats a massive difference in recruitment process. Oh yeah, and Safeway also showed us a 10 year old presentation on a projector about how good safeway is and its history.

Safeway interview:

Wear school Uniform OR black suit pants, black shoes and white shirt with single colour tie. What the hell are you thinking hoody and jeans? Trust me when you rock up to the interview everyone will be looking very professional in business looking clothes.

It may start off with a bit of information about Safeway. Make sure not to talk when the safeway lady is talking. You'll then be put in a pair with the person next to you and have to talk to eachother about yourselves. You then have to stand up and tell the group about the person you talked to- try to sound confident and be nice-make them sound good.

The table you're sitting on will then be given a group activity. Likely will be something about a checkout with a spill in front of one and a line building up. Just make sure to put safety and customer satisfaction at the front in your choice of how to deal with the situation- and let facilitator know that.

Make sure you participate but also give other people the chance to talk. If possible take the opportunity to present some of the answer.

You will then have a 10minute test with things such as easy maths questions and recognition of barcodes etc. Make sure you get them right.

It's mostly based on whether you seem a good person and whether you don't prove yourself mentally deficient on the test. Being young helps because you're cheap. PRESENT YOURSELF WELL!!! You rock up in a hoody and act like a brat and you aren't getting the job. GOOD LUCK!

Lol, are you guys serious?

I'm 15... and you guys want me to wear business shit?

=\

Well if you get the job you'll be wearing that sort of stuff anyway.

That said, neat jeans and a good shirt will do.

But in a hoody? Hell no.

instead of getting there 5-10 minutes early get there 20 minutes before the start and if Kelli and Brooke in reception are hot get some photos.

Thanks for the kind replys.

What should I wear to the interview?

Birthday suit

For the extra edge, I recommend the mankini.

Nah seriously, slacks, shirt, nice shoes, tie if you want to impress.

haha hoody?!?! are you serious?

Geez I wouldnt be hiring you

I went to a coles/myer group interview and wore black pants shoes and a tie. Needless to say got offered the job the next morning.

Wear a tie and you will imediatly stand out

Funnily enough, I got a group interview with Woolworths/Safeway tomorrow morning, shouldn't be too hard to get for you at the age of 15, as long as you don't dress in Wu-Tang and prove to them that your a braindead idiot. You should be fine, good luck:thumbsu:

On that matter, such a repulsed attitude to wearing business gear really is quite silly and immature.

You will possibly have to wear one for most of your life so you might as well suck it up and be a man.

There are very very few jobs where you could get away with wearing jeans, a hoodie and dunlops to work.

(looks down).

I'm wearing Jeans, Hoodie, and barefoot. And I'm working. :D

I didn't say those jobs didn't exist. They were just very very few in numbers.

Most companies will have some form of dress code that is more professional then a hoodie, jeans and dunlops particularly if you are customer facing

You're a shoe in for the job, don't stress.
Supermarkets love 15yr olds, you guys are cheap labour, and there's nothing a 20yr old can do that you can't (apart from selling booze & smokes).

Just be enthusiastic, eager and flexible and the job is as good as yours.

Actually, if you're under 18 you can still sell cigarettes.

As for the job interview, I've got a job at Big W (same company).

Dress smart casual, I went in business pants, black shoes and a white business style shirt. I must admit, not many there were dressed like that, but hey, I got the job and they didn't.

For the interview itself, just be confident. Participate in all activities, make sure they notice you're there.

Good luck.

Yeah as people have said, dress nicely, casually. Not necessarily suit up, business like but casual, a nice clean, button up t-shirt, and try and wear a clean black pair of trousers. If it's a group interview then you're likely to be given a scenario (a what if) situation. Try and make a contribution to the group if you can.
I probably sound like your mother but I'm just trying to help. Good luck.:thumbsu:

Q14. Is there an age requirement for people who sell tobacco?

There is currently no age limit for people who can sell tobacco in Victoria. Regardless of the age of the person selling tobacco products, it remains the responsibility of the manager/proprietor to ensure that anyone they allow to sell tobacco products in their store does it responsibly and complies with the laws prohibiting the sale of tobacco products to people under the age of 18 years.

Yeah, if I'm in the office, or meeting clients it's always suit'n'tie (Friday/Sat night the tie's usually lost though...ooh rebel) :D

You're allowed a laptop at a construction site?

? Nah, home office. Only see clients 3-4 times a week, 1 day in the office, rest of the time at home.

I just tryed on the old mans white shirt and black pants, I'm just 15 sif I'm gonna go like that.

Jeans it is.

Wear a nice plain polo if you are going to go without shirt and slacks.

Far out, a 1 hour interview? My first interview was last week and went for literally 5 minutes. But i guess it was maccas.

Good luck mate, hope you get the job.

And yes, dress proffesionally. My mum made me go in black pants, a nice collared shirt and a jumper. Even though I thought I should wear just casual. But yeah, just don't look too scummy. Sheesh, what am I talking about coming from Frankston... :o

Changed my mind again, decided to go with shirt/trousers but... must I tuck my shirt in? :o
