I have no problem with what he did.
But if you are going to bid, you must take the next pick and not be able to pass.

Yeah UNO rules should apply. Having said that I wouldn't be surprised if Gill introduced UNO next year for a bit of spice (draw 2 spots, reverse order, skip a pick, etc.)

It's possible they'd be happy with MRJ, but once we matched they'd rather pass and take a rookie. I know they probably wanted to hold us accountable, but it's certainly plausible that a team would do that, and they should be able to
