I thought the umpires were very good today. Unfortunately, some people focus on the 3 or 4 incorrect decisions rather than the 486 right ones.

Nah just sick of people complaining about the umpiring, they are always going to make mistakes and i thought today they made less than most days...

Couldn't agree any more. Umpiring was one of the best for the year.

Apart from two clear holding frees against the dirty scragger Darren Glass in the first quarter the umpiring was fine.

Far more than 2. I have no idea how the cheating sod gets away with it, especially when it's so often right in front of the umps, but it's infuriating.

In general, I thought Margetts was doing his best to not call anything against the WC, but the other 2 were fine.

I thought the umps were great and let it go accordingly.

It's just that the Krakouer one was blatantly obvious and at the stage it is fortunate it didn't come down to impacting on the result.

Couldn't agree more. It's almost the culture on this board to whinge about the umpires ad nauseum. They made a few mistakes in both directions today and had absolutely no influence either way,

FFS give it a rest, it is the domain of life's losers to bang on with such rubbish.

Who was that umpire #23? He had money on West Coast today. The umpiring as a whole was neutral, but this guy was an absolute clown, did a shocking job, especially against Collingwood.

I didn't think the umpiring had any effect on the game at all.

We gave away a few silly frees at times, and 2-3 50's that were definitely there.

The one most of the crowd went nuts at was when NicNat took on the team and got caught, but I just saw the replay then and he got a handball off, so the umpire got it right there.

Yes, they made some errors, but if the umpiring was to that standard for the rest of the finals you'd be satisfied with it.

Umpire panicked with the Luke Ball one and that was crucial because they backed up with another goal straight after against the run of play.

They should never give 50's from clearances if a player kicks it away it's just B.S

I agree they should give a little more leeway in finals, but technically that was 50 against Ball.

Ball gave away the fact he knew it wasn't a Pies free by looking at the ump as soon as he'd kicked it.

And the other 50 was for abuse (Selwood missed anyway).

We won, let's move on, the umpires aren't the reason why the Eagles got close, there are clearly other reasons.

23 - 18 in the pies favour is hardly anything to complain about.

I think about 6 Pies frees were advantage where we had it anyway and in two cases it ended up being a disadvantage. Very poor umpiring today.

I thought they killed us all day. It's the free kicks in terms of numbers but, where they were. Cloke had a mark not paid, Dawes missed a few free kicks and most of them were inside our forward 50. We certainly should have been two more goals in front because of them.

I love the way finals footy is umpired. Umps definitely put away the whistle more and I for one prefer it.

The thing today that really really pissed me off was the way NicNat was seemingly able to do whatever he wanted in the ruck whereas Brown and Jolly were pulled up on everything as usual. I am yet to see a replay to see if Jolly was faking the push in the backs, but geez those free kicks got me out of my seat.

Umpiring didn't affect the game, but I did feel they were very leniant with some of the treatment our forwards copped in the last quarter when West Coast had their run on. But like I said, overall, it was fine.

Buggered if I know why they don't put their whistle away for the regular season though. You get to finals and it's like the rules have changed.

there was one play where didak was getting bear hugged while the ball was being delivered to him

he still managed to do the freakish alan thing and toe poke it to advantage but surely the umpires could have seen the holding the man free

Enjoyed the fact that the umpiring was a bit lenient.

But that game the umpiring was pretty bad. All the free's given were correct but the free's that WEREN'T given was atrocious.

I saw countless times, Dawes and Beams being manhandled when the ball was coming towards them and of course the Krakeour one.

I'm all for the umpiring to be a bit lenient, but that shit really shouldn't be okay.

On reflection the only real issue I had was the 50 metre penalty against Ball in the second quarter.

A free kick for a shepard in the ruck is a toss of the coin 90% of the time and all Ball did was take the advantage. All throughout the season the umpires have just decided to bring the ball back, but today they pay a 50 go figure. It was certainly compounded by the fact it cost a goal!

Eagles having most of the play in the 4th might have a little to do with it, as would your frustration at your team not building on a 26pt margin.

It was as good as even all day.

Horribly inconsistent for the whole game.

Turned the tide of thew whole game in the second quarter with that free against L Brown in the ruck and then the 50 against Ball.

I don't complain about umpires ever as I always have the opinion that if a free kick cost you a game then you really shouldn't have been in that position in the first place.

Today's umpiring I thought was pretty good. Having said that, I have heard reports (not BF threads) that the umpiring was terrible and that all 3 umpires will not be given a game for the rest of these finals. Again, I think that is rubbish as the umpiring was good. Of course there are always decisions here or there that you don't like, but that is sport.

There will always be questionable decisions in every game. I didn't think they were too bad. A little inconsistent but not bad enough to bag them out IMO.
