The parents of Cleo Smith say their four-year-old girl has suffered from nightmares in the aftermath of her abduction.

Ellie Smith and Jake Gliddon described the ordeal in an interview on Nine's 60 Minutes, detailing the night Cleo was snatched from their family tent on October 16 and the months that have followed.

"Every day and night is different. But she's OK. She's, happy, she's bubbly," Ms Smith said.

"She's sad, she's angry. But she's getting there."

'One of the detectives who rescued kidnap victim Cleo Smith in 2021 has resigned from WA Police, ahead of a Corruption and Crime Commission report on alleged misconduct.
Detective Senior Sergeant Cameron Blaine became known as one of the heroes of the successful investigation which returned Cleo safely to her parents.

In 2022, it was revealed he had been stood down while being investigated for alleged misconduct.
In a statement, WA Police confirmed that Detective Blaine's resignation has been accepted.
The statement said no further comment could be provided at this time.'

During the investigation, members of the media and a huge contingent of police descended upon the isolated town.

The report notes both media and the police were lodged in various motels and other places in Carnarvon and socialised on occasion, during which time Mr Blaine "grew friendly with a female journalist aged 22"."
