It's not the be all, end all but he's an alumni of a pretty prestigious school and comes across like he's got his wits about him. Doubt he's got sucked in by any of the "get rich quick" leeches that footballers attract.
He’s in a Pretty decent position financially , made good decisions with the money he’s made over the years & the club has helped him out with a few things he has going on outside of footy.

Read something similar when he first started at Port.

The guy becomes one of our most important players then cops this fmd we are unlucky
As unlucky as Ben Jacobs?

I understand this is a club board and we're all staunch supporters but this isn't about the club, it's not about football and it certainly isn't about idiot fans like us being deprived of a good player.

I hope the guy can get his life back together, whatever that looks like from here.

“He comes in and trains but then they won’t see him for two or three days after he trains. It just knocks him for six.

He’s getting pain, headaches linked to concussion, pain behind his eyes and sinuses, across his forehead, severe pain. He can’t train consistently at all.

He’s seen something like 10 different specialists from ear, nose and throat specialists to brain specialists to alternative options like stem cell therapy”

After reading that I think it’s best for Ben to retire and for the club to move forward and take another player who will be able to contribute on field.

Hey I believe any is possible now mate😆 don't know but this will be his last go at It.
Has he progressed at all in any meaningful way in the last 2 years? Because that recent write up might as well have been from 2018. How can a bloke be out for 2 years without progress and never on the LTI? It’s borderline negligent from the club given the opportunity cost of trialing additional 19 year olds or state league players.

While from the outside it may well appear negligent, what if we're really looking after someone a fellow North man and after all a person, who knows of course. I know from my experience well for the most part being able to come back to work at my leisure with support made my life that much easier. As important as footy is and work is, you spend more time not playing footy or working. Most of your 24 hour period is made up away from your pursuits.

There's certainly the support angle, but theres also the uncertainty of his return. He could have come good at any point given the nature of his issues. Rather him available than some rookie who more than likely never makes the grade.

Mate I doubt we'll see him again. But maybe you'll see in a park smiling and having a kick one day, sh!t that was good enough for the majority of us:) Have ya self an NDE and you really see things differently. Please don't , just take it from me, your mortality staring you in the face is ******* sobering.

Good point and I agree, just feel that maybe 6 months on the LTI without any pressure to return may have been the best thing for both player and club.

As others have said, we tend to keep players on the active list throughout long term injuries, gutting our vfl team and lessening the chances of us picking up the next Marion Pickett. I don’t feel like our list is so strong that we can continually pass up opportunities to potentially improve it, even if it is unlikely that one of these players turns out to make the grade.

maybe that's a financial decision as am sure the club would understand the pro's & con's. I sometime feel and I'm guilty of it as much as anyone that we think we see things the club doesn't.

I'm sure we won't see him pull on the jumper again and am more than happy with hiw we have looked after him. Such a s**t thing.
