Probably a little of both, he's OOC and we won't be giving him one.
Agree but the way it plays out offers a different feel either way.

Hoping he's retiring and we can have a cordial finishing up and pave the way for his future involvement.

If it's an outright delisting it'd unfortunate that the parties don't see eye to eye even if it's the right call.

Im heartbroken for The Clamp.

Played his guts out for our great club to the point he’s forced into retirement.
Ill never forget the ‘where’s Trent’ game, you singlehanded dismantled a Brownlow winner.

Thanks for the memories BJ 👍

It had been too long between posts, but as the Pilot of the Ben Jacobs Jalopi/Dodgem car, I couldn’t let this go unobserved.

I identified his disputed talent early, and the great man like many before him has had his career cut short by injury. It was one hell of a ride Ben, I hope above all else you recover fully & stay sound for many decades to come.

Thank you for the highlights, all the big jobs done for the team and giving me the opportunity to say I told u so and I called it, to all & sundry.

Go well champ.

So IIRC, this was the 'whiplash' incident that caused Benny's injury.

Jacobs suffered neck pain, headaches and blocked ears after sustaining a 'whiplash' injury against Brisbane in round 11, 2018.

All the best Benny. As a fellow neurological condition sufferer, his journey with this was something that I felt personally invested in. I hung onto every update on his condition like it was an update for my own. It's gut wrenching that this didn't pan out. But, now is the time for Ben to take a break, and enjoy what he has in life. Family, friends, you name it. Health precedes footy.

I wish you health, happiness, and a specialist who can get to the bottom of this and help you regain your quality of life.

A sad footy story but he's still a young man with a bright future ahead of him. Good luck with everything in future, Ben. We've missed you since the first game you had to sit out. A defensive force that added shape to our midfield like no one had before or since.

Also, a monster shoe. This is one of my favourite ever North goals and it's improved by a brilliant Sandy Robertson call.

at the end of each year we say goodbye to a few players that have represented our club and got the most out of themselves or not, with Ben it is different and even though we have known for a long time this was the likely outcome, it still hurts, it is similar to a death in the family, not because Ben was a superstar (but he was going to be) but more because how sad it all is.

Forever remembered for giving midfielders and midfielder coaches nightmares.

Can't undersell just how important he was to the team. The W/L record with him playing was crystal clear evidence.

He departs from the North footy world as one of the most courageous and determined players on our list.

I still remember that running back with the flight mark he took against the Dogs in 2016 near the North members wing. Could have seriously ended his career there and then. That sorta stuff is a perfect example of Jacobs putting in 100% week in, week out.

All the best Benny.

Absolutely, was a great player and studied his opponents and the way they played. Dismantled the very best and hurt them going the other way as well. Put his head over the ball but played fair. Really missed him, always went for it when it was his turn to go.

28-year-old midfielder, Jacobs, played 90 games with North and Port Adelaide after being selected with pick 16 in the 2010 National Draft.

In 2012, he requested a trade to the Kangaroos which didn’t eventuate, and was instead picked up by the club with pick 37 in the Draft later that year.

In 2018 Jacobs was widely regarded as the game’s best taggers, but was plagued by health issues and played his last game in Round 16 that season.

“Ben was someone opposition teams had to plan for, and I know that first-hand being at Sydney when he was taking scalp after scalp,” Shaw commented.

“Although he’s been out of the game for a while, he’s remained a great teammate and club person, which is a real credit to him.”

Jacobs said his issues stemmed from a “whiplash” incident on the field against Brisbane in 2018, and has dealt with severe face and neck pain, headaches, blocked ears and pressure in his head ever since.

"I had none of these symptoms before I hit my head (at Marvel Stadium), so since then it has been a combination of things,” Jacobs said in an interview in 2019.

"I have had a neck injury ... I have just had my head knocked on the ground ... whether that has flared up the jaw, the nerves in the head, the neck ... it is the perfect storm type of thing.”

Along with North’s medical team, Jacobs explored dozens of avenues and treatments to alleviate his symptoms according to GM Football, Brady Rawlings.

“We’ve left no stone unturned in the search for answers to Ben’s unique set of circumstances,” Rawlings said.

“It’s been a long and painstaking journey with an unfortunate premature ending to Ben’s football career, but our focus has always been on his long-term health and ensuring he could lead a normal life symptom free.

“While Ben still has a way to go before he’s free of the symptoms he’s endured, he’s definitely on the right track and we’ll continue to support him with his health and wellbeing as he is a beloved member of our club.”

Its done. Gutted. fu** the footy gods for what you did to him. I'm shattered hes gone but maybe its the closure we all need to finally move on.

The barometer. The one player who made his teammates walk and stand taller. Cunnington and Ziebell owe you their full gratitude.
His contribution will be sorely missed and he will forever be apart of North Melbourne peoples hearts.

Thanks you Ben. Good luck with your health and you can finally let Cotchin out of your pocket #helpfindtrent
