Past #5: Ben Jacobs - delisted after 64 NM games/10 NM goals - thanks Benny

One of if not our most important players

He is, but even at his best it’s going to be at the expense of someone we won’t want it to be.

He’s an interesting case atm.

If Jacobs plays it’s probably at the expense of LDU, Ahern or Scott.

With Jacobs in the side Ahern and LDU won’t be getting much center square action.

I’d take Jacobs over Simpkins 14 touches a game.

It'd probably be Scott. We definitely need Ahern and we're beginning to feel the need for LDU.

If they miss out on the centre action then shift Ahern to HF as he's a good kick deeper into the F50.
Or move Cunnington forward.

I'm sure theres a scenario where all 3 can play.

I guarantee Ahern doesn't make way. Scott loves Ahern at the bounce/stoppage.

I just hope it’s not something like Ménière’s disease, that s**t can be terrible.

I have that. Albeit fairly mild compared to some. It sucks.

Comparing it to a cold of congestion is completely off the mark. These issues can be absolutely debilitating.

Don’t underestimate the function of balance in the playing of elite sport!... Not that I’d know - but the condition impacts the whole way you interact with the world. It’s a warped filter.

Even if it’s somewhat related, it would make good footy hard.

Feel for the guy. Genuinely is one of the best players at North. Hell, I don't know if I could see Cunners or Higgins consistently beating the likes of Fyfe, Mitchell and Martin.

I made the crack at one stage that we were treating him for concussion when he had a cold. But I knew a person in a past life that had serious sinusitis and it is very debilitating. Seems Bens may be chronic - he hasn't had much luck over the last few years and is a very important part of the team.Hope the medics can get him right soon.

OK I'm starting to get shitty over the lack of information being provided to us about Jacobs.

All they've told us is "it takes time". It's been nearly a year!!! What were the complications? Am i expecting another year? 6 months?

I have #5 printed on my guernsey but I have more info on Josh Kelly's dog at this point.

He is vital to the team and we simply don't win without him.

The lack of information is disappointing. What use is it to keep this secret? How will it help the opposition?
The facts aren't great. We know that the club thought the illness was under control when Jacobs signed a new deal. Only for it to flare up again somehow.
Would be nice to know exactly what is going on and what the doctors are saying.

There's no information because they haven't got any ffs.

The initial diagnosis took some time to make and once surgery was decided upon there was NEVER a guarantee of 100% success.

The amount of time it took specialists to make a diagnosis should give an indication of the complexity of his condition.

It's never been simple or straightforward and they are quite likely scratching their heads just how to go forward.

Nonsense.

The doctors screwed up the initial diagnosis and didn't get a specialist in for months. He was then found to have chronic sinusitis so they immediately operated (in August) and we were told (in September) that it was cleared up. He then signed on for 2 more years at which time we were promised he would be ready by 2019 pre season.

Well here's 2019 pre-season and no Jacobs. Where's my damn update.

If Jacobs plays then we play finals and i know to upgrade my seats from now ;)

North doctors botching something?

They've got form at this mate.
Our sports scientist of a coach was himself telling us with a straight face for weeks that Jacobs is still experiencing delayed concussion symptoms, when it was quite obvious that dizziness isn't only common post concussion, but in many other cases as well. It was laughable. It's like telling a cancer patient that he is probably experiencing post flu symptoms.

Agree Groggster. Upper nasal/inner ear/vertigo/headache matters can be very complex.

This isn't a busted toe.
