Interesting to look at the players who average fewer tackles than Ellis per game.
In this order, Rioli, Houli, Sheds, Dusty, Balta, Grimes, Broad, Garth, Short, Astbury last on the list.
Obviously there's a reason they all have lower tackle counts, so it amuses me for some reason Ellis is constantly signaled out.
There are a only a few on this board that have absolutely no time for Ellis. Some criticise him for the occasional lack of 100% commitment, some recognise and accept that is human nature and that that is the nature of some footballers. But most here recognise that he is a good footballer who does most things to a reasonable level, after all he has played 170+ games. Some like me think that there will be a line of players queuing for his position next year, a few of them with pretty high upsides, and that he will be in stiff competition for a game next year. We are after all one of the best teams in the league. There are others like you he see him as a wonderful player.
But the main premise of this thread now is do you pay 'overs' for him over a 3 year contract. Even you might concede that he might do better going to a team where he will get paid what he is worth and be played every week without the pressure that he is possibly feeling.

Wait, so if we pay what another club will it’s overs, but it’s what he is worth somewhere else? Hmm

s**t teams pay overs for premiership players as they are desperate to bring winning experience into the side.

Blumfield, Clay Sampson, Ben Marsh, even Kane Johnson are good examples.

Wouldn't even have to be a s**t team, Ellis would find a place in a lot of sides. Miles going to GC is an example, although to his credit he has done pretty well.

The thing is, those clubs can get him for free, no need to trade. Plus we get compensated and cap space freed up. Brando walks away with best contract available.

If it wasn't for this thread being derailed by one or two guys with opposing opinions who won't let it go, it would be that simple.

It doesn't even matter if he's a squib or something can be gleaned from endless stats.

Totally agree! Regardless of the opposing views in regards to Ellis hopefully it's going to be a win for both the Club and Ellis! :thumbsu: :):thumbsu:

Won’t be a loss at all. What are we going to miss my him leaving?? I’d call it a positive as it frees up some cash to pay some of the young boys.
Your welcome to your opinion but my opinion is he’ll be a big loss.
