Can forgive the odd panic when Brandon is running and linking well. But I can't remember a game where I had my head in my hands more when he was involved in the play.
He may survive based on keeping a winning side in, but it would be zero risk bringing in Pickett or Stack (if fit) to replace him, and if structure is paramount then Macca.
In all honesty the last time i watched a player stuff up so much was when Taylor Hunt had that game where he was just awful
We played 1 short last night
Stack injured 17 August from memory went under the knife the following day . So if he were to play in the prelim (20 September) about 1 month. Slightly shorter than Lambert who did the same injury last year and returned to play. How many weeks has Stack missed? . Reckon he would be okay to go and we know at the very least he will compete and give a contest.
Imo if Jack Ross has another decent game in the ressies then he comes in we will need bigger bodied mids and flanker types to cope with collonwood.
for me Pickett Ross Stack and McIntosh should all be considered for their physicality alone.
Just my opinion but the times Collingwood have got hold of us and actually made us look ordinary is because they kill us with bigger bodies who are just as quick and skillful as our smalls.
For me its horses for courses and all four mentioned will give us a better chance to compete and intimidate.
Even Menadue given his good form??I don’t buy into the whole don’t change a winning side argument. Ellis was clearly our worst player on the night and has to be dropped. Some of his contested efforts were inexcusable. I watched him a bit off the ball and his opponent was given clear running offensively. Pro Ellis posters say that he has elite kicking skill but he just doesn’t. They are either a dump kick high and long or a dinky sideways one which slows down play. I know I’m being captain obvious here as this has been stated many times but enough is enough. The concern is the MC have left it too late but I would rather go in with an inexperienced Ross or Pickett or out of form KMac.
I actually don’t think Menadue would be very far away at all tbh. He strikes me as the type of player who is the one gunning for Ellis role more than anyone.Even Menadue given his good form??
He is maturing and although not everyone's cup of tea on this board, he is at least a good user of the ball.I actually don’t think Menadue would be very far away at all tbh. He strikes me as the type of player who is the one gunning for Ellis role more than anyone.
He has the running capacity too which is Ellis one wood so I just see him as the logical replacement if it gets to that.He is maturing and although not everyone's cup of tea on this board, he is at least a good user of the ball.
Apparently Gold Coast, are very confident that Brandon will be there next year, as well as Shaun Burgoyne. As they have Milesy & CEllis there to make him feel more at home up there. So if that is actually the case, I would be happy for Marlion, Sydney or even Naishy take his spot for the remaining games, as these boys have more upside in the future years.Even the sun's have gone cold on him.
if you were listening to my comments during the game from outside my room you'd think i was watching a porno with the amounts of ohs and groans when he did what he did.
shudders.
Peter North watching a porno. Who’d have thought.....
Your joking arent ya. Of all the grounds in the league the Gabba would have to be the closest venue to the mcg as far as dimensions go.Ellis was a bit of a victim of the size of the ground and the Lions structure on the night. He has never been good in tight and the same opposition structure which allowed Dusty the space up forward to dominate one on one meant that he was unable to create space through gut-running.
Yes, he had a stinker, but, the MCG is a very different ground and despite his last game, Ellis has played very well for us at home this year where he can burn off opponents in the expanses of the wings.
I was screaming with frustration as much as the next tiger fan at his dinky little handball turnovers under pressure, but will equally not forget the joy he brings bolting down the wing at the G and launching the ball 60m into our forward line.
Dimma has created a team who are expected to exult in their strengths... it's fair to say, playing in tight is probably not one of Brandons.
Yep, fair enough, the G is a few metres longer... Was reacting to the 7 commentary which suggested that at the Gabba fast goals from the centre were much easier due to the grounds dimensions. (Should have known better.) Still, the Lions tactic of flooding the midfield to stop our forward handball game took away the space and time Ellis normally would operate in and forced him to fast-handball more often than he or anyone else would like. Clearly that wasn't good for him, but the counter strategy of leaving Dusty deep forward was a masterstroke. I sometimes wonder how good Richo would have been if he had the luxury of Pagans paddock to run around in...Your joking arent ya. I think we can make excuses for a first or second year player but he has played almost 200 games. He should be able to adjust to any conditions, weather, game style etc. it astounds me that people are willing to draw and quarter the likes of Menadue and Markov after a stinker but Brando can play 1 good game in 5 and that’s ok. He averages 13 touches in finals ffs. We are taking a huge risk if we play him next Friday.Ellis was a bit of a victim of the size of the ground and the Lions structure on the night. It’s been mentioned when he was playing with Kmac Brando would take the skinny side and help get the ball out’ve def, I’ve noticed the last couple of weeks he’s doing that at the start of games but when it’s ‘Go’ time Caddy is gettin flipped over that side and instead of forcing stoppages Caddy’s runnin thru traffic.
