Bio...

Well built defender who reads the play very well. He is a team-oriented player, an excellent kick, has clean ball handling skills and makes good decisions with the footy. Representing Vic Metro at the NAB AFL U18 Championships he had an outstanding game against NSW/ACT, gathering 29 disposals. He averaged 18.2 disposals, at 75.8 per cent effectiveness, Under 18s.
What the club says...

He's a terrific story. He's one of the best kicks in the draft, which was a high priority for us, and he's a terrific contested-ball player. Given the importance of that, we think he'll settle into our team very, very quickly. I love his competitiveness and the way he kicks the footy. To complement that, he's got fantastic character. His interview was one the best I've ever done. It was terrific. His father having throat cancer - obviously such a serious illness - and how that affected the family, and the role Brandon played in that, was terrific
Brandon had an outstanding year in 2011, elevating himself from a potential draftee, to a certain first-round draft pick
He is an elite kick of the football and has a real weapon with his penetration and accuracy. He is also extremely brave with his attack on the ball, is an excellent decision-maker across half-back, and he possesses elite endurance.
He is also an outstanding young man, who is very driven, and we feel confident he will realise his significant potential with us.

The Tigers took Calder Cannon Brandon Ellis with pick 15 - the first selection from a Victorian club in the draft - and know they have a 181cm rebounding defender with an elite kick and a will to compete.

A boy called Ellis

IT IS hard to imagine there was a more interesting, likeable character at the NAB AFL Draft Combine than Brandon Ellis.

Ellis was selected in November's NAB AFL Draft by the Tigers with pick 15, after a stunning 2011 season with the Calder Cannons in the TAC Cup.

The best feeling: Ellis

Ever since I was a little kid I’ve wanted to play AFL...it’s always been my dream,” Ellis said when he sat down with Roar Vision this week. Now I’m a Tiger, and my dream has come true.

Hot prospects: Brandon Ellis

Ellis tested in the top 10 per cent in both the standing and running vertical jump, which is a big part of why he's so strong overhead. He also showcased his elite endurance by running a 15.4 beep test and a 10:32 3km time trial. He scored 25 out of 30 in the Nathan Buckley kicking drill, which placed him equal ninth overall.

Tiger recruit Brandon Ellis aiming to sting the Blues

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/a...-sting-the-blues/story-e6frf9jf-1226217645218

That's my goal to play Round 1 and I'm going to do everything I can, but there's a lot of competition," Ellis said. "I think we've got eight or nine backs who are in the running.

All I want to do is play. I don't care where I play, I just want to put on the Richmond jumper and that will be the best day of my life.

Loving how we are nursing the kid through his first year all through playing AFL football rather than VFL since he is clearly an AFL footballer.

Using the sub rule for ultimate gain. :thumbsu:

Same , we are very spoilt having this kid running around getting the job done each week. His composure running into goal in the last quarter agst the Saints was first class.

He is just going to improve in blocks of tens this kid. He has just completed his first 10 games. Look out Freo !!!
