It's an irrelevant argument - Once you've played 50 games you are expected to perform.
If you're a 200 game player and, most importantly, a leader, for mine you're expected to standup in big games and do the right things - that's leadership.

Stanton didn't last night. Neither did Myers fwiw.

Myers was far better than Stanton - had Myers in our top 10 players - People forget that Myers did lots of good work in the packs, especially in the first half.

Looks like he's on a treadmill when the opposition has the ball, but can always find something to push hard for the easy uncontested possession across HB, frustrating player.

Out of contract at the end of 2015, he'll be playing for his career next year which often brings the best out of people.

He'll be 29,next year. Trade him now while we can. Waiting until end of contract will either he walks or we decide to let him walk or we re-sign effectively a 30,year old. Trade now while he has some value.

I wouldn't be against moving on (with the right price/replacement) but the bolded isn't true.

Robert Harvey was doing it until he was 53.
Robert Harvey has a Football Brain and was a good user of the ball as well as a good decision maker. His work rate was always better than what Stantons has been as he was dealing with taggers most weeks and had to work hard for his touches. Stanton goes missing when tagged.

You seriously could not be comparing Robert Harvey to Brent Stanton......

i wouldnt be against trading stanton for the right deal. obviously a great servant of the club but we need to get fair dinkum and get our best 22 full of fast players (by foot and mind) who will go to war and be brutal in the contest. I was never a stanton basher he didnt deserve what he used to cop from our supporters. I think the end is coming fast for him and we should trade him while he still has currency, it may even be too late.

He was poor over the weekend. I expect more from him. He put in a couple of hard chases. His effort was there. My issue was his disposal by foot. He just doesn't kick to advantage. It's not hard.

I'm expecting big things next year from Stanton, remember it was only 2 seasons ago he was dominating the competition for most of the season. He'll be back. My only gripe is how long it takes him to kick - he is probably the most smothered player on our list, other than that, I have faith.

i don't want to bag him, because he's been a great servant of our club. when we were at our lowest ebb, and he had no support, he played his guts out for us

however, he was ordinary on Saturday night. in fact, i can't really remember him ever stepping up to the plate when the heat was on in a big game/final in his career. he often has looked fumbly and made poor decisions under pressure.

i would be happy to trade him, not just based on Saturday night, but based on his performances in big games his whole career

Well that's just incorrect. Was our best against Carlton and our second best against Adelaide. Sat on the bench for the finals in his debut year. By comparison, Jobe has played less good finals.

Not writing him off but he had a disappointing season.

Think we need to see how he goes at half back as part of operation get more pace into the midfield. Can't see him working out as a forward.

5th best against Carlton and not in the best against Adelaide according to AFL match centre.

Went missing in the last quarter against Carlton in Rd 23 when the game and 7th spot was on the line.
