1 poor game in conditions that didn't suit. He could walk into just about any other club. His stats don't lie;-

Games: 227, ave disposals - 22.4, goals - 0.5, tackles - 3.3, marks - 5.8.

Lucky to have him at the club I reckon

Coming from me, it may be a little biased but the fact that the opposition are willing to waste a tagger on him shows that coaches still rate him as a threat to opposition sides.

Edit: Whilst I'm not saying he had a good game, he had half an excuse. Zaharakis on the other hand...........
Clarkson does :(

Sick of people dissing Stanton for playing poorly,. Wasn't exactly the night for outside running types. L.Jetta had 15, R.Shaw had 17.

My first post here, wish it wasn't a negative one but had to have my say here. I'm not a Stanton basher at all and respect what he does on a pretty regular basis, which is accumulates disposals and provides an outlet and links up well. But when any player has a 12 disposal game at 33 per cent efficiency including five clangers and no impact in the final quarter his position in the team has to be questioned. If it wasn't, I would be pretty disappointed in our selection. It is one game, but very frustrating when he turned it over so many times at crucial moments, big reason why we lost the game imo. Not what we need from senior player in a big game like that and I think we have seen that there are a few younger guys waiting to slot in for anyone out of form. (not saying 1 bad game is out of form, but he should be on notice)

Was good against GWS last year too.
I would have no problem with him being dropped against the Hawks.
No doubt he can be good enough, but it would send a strong message that we wont be putting up with meritocracy

Judged based on his last 10 games of last year also. His best is passed him. Been a great servant, but time to blood the youngsters. Harsh but true. J. Merrett or EKav

It wont happen.

It's not that I haven't come the full 360 and am now back to finding him a seriously underwhelming player (not sure of the point of a predominately outside player with average disposal and who is on the slow side) but he's not really someone that ever really deserves to be dropped.

Someone dangled the free agency carrot a page or two back. That's the only way he is not going to play out his career with us.

This is the problem with our number 5. He's a mediocre league player but too good for the VFL.

Wtf do they do with him?

Yes yes he's played some outstanding games over the years, but the time has come to make a decision on whether he is an asset for our side or mainly a liability.

Can't seeing him being dropped for the next 4 games or so no matter how bad he plays. So it's a wait and see on how he can lift himself up to the required level.

Leeds United AFC. Melb Victory FC.
I had a really good gut feeling about him this year because we all know what he is capable of.
Put him in my Supercoach team, regret it already.
