Bounced back like good players do. Have never been in his fan club but you can not deny he is a good player and talk of trading him is rubbish at this stage.
Would do more harm to the group than good. IMO will never be an A grade player but that is ok, you need the B grade players as well. One thing i noticed
today that stops him from being a super star is he gets himself out of position too often by hunting the ball rather than holding position. Often he is the bloke
who is watching the ball go over his head because he goes second in when he does not need to.
He is part of the fabric that holds the group together and the club needs him. Deserves to play out his days as a Bomber.

Sat near another Essendon supporter tonight and she must have said "Stanton, you're useless!" about 150 times throughout the night - most of it was even before he'd disposed of the ball or as he went to mark it. The bloke played a really solid game and had a crucial smother. I don't understand the point of hurling abuse at one of our own when he's doing his best to get the job done.

Got absolutely burned by Chappy in the first quarter. Was pretty much on his own in the goal square for about 8 seconds.

As a whole, barring the third quarter, he had a solid game. Made a potentially match saving smother and beat Roughy in a marking contest.

Should have txt'd in and reported her for unsocial behaviour.

I am one of Stanton's fiercest critics - I have been for years. It is true - when he is bad - he is lamentable. (Last two games before today for instance.) But I am also pleased to dish out the accolades when he deserves them. Today, he was very industrious and justified his spot in the team. At the end of the day I'd rather see the bloke be good rather than rubbish, but I am one who is not blinded by his failings as a lot of you are. He wouldn't have even started in today's team on last week's showing at probably any other club other than Essendon. Pleased he put it together today.

it wasn't just the smother it was putting his head over the ball right after ambrose mauled hill.
This was the bit that I really rated. Great smother but he knew the job wasn't done and bored in again. I'll forgive him his handful of weekly changers/fumbles if he can bring that effort to the table.
