Looks like Clarkson has just liquid papered out Birchall or Hodge from his gameplan and written in Daniel.

Reminds me of Carlton 2003 preseason when McKernan correctly predicted all the drills the incoming Pagan would implement and Whitnall observed "he's setting up the drills like I'm Wayne Carey - but Im not Wayne Carey..".

Caleb wasn't fantastic, but wasn't anywhere near as bad as some in here are suggesting.

It's not his fault that the trade that netted him was stupid.

He won't be dropped this week off that performance.

Agree won't be dropped for a while yet. If Hardeman continues his trajectory he should be handed the keys as the primary ball handler. This should take a bit more pressure of Daniel and could release him further up the ground. Caleb is obviously a competitor but his inability to defend or intercept will see his role continue to be under the microscope. Ford, Goater, Archer and Fisher all competing for a spot in the backline for the backend of the year. Good problem to have.

Gone. Slow, can't kick over jam tin, can't defend or intercept.

The sooner Goater is up and running the better, in the interim happy to give the ball to Hardeman to be moved forwards not sideways and backward.

People seriously acting like we missed out on Nat Fyfe or Dayne Beams with pick 25 😂😂.

Going by our last few second round picks, pick 25 would be lucky to play 20 games.

It's more about not having pick 2 this year...

its more the future first currently pick 2

as we could have got a whitlock with pick 25 if we didnt trade it for daniel and kept our future first

Mate, where did it say pick 25 would have got us Mlock? We literally got him with a first round picks and Daniel was traded for a second rounder.

If you're going to argue at least get your facts right as a minimum.
who is to say he wouldn't have lasted to the daniel pick which was a few picks (2 i believe) after

and i said a whitlock

as in worst case we take jack if matt somehow got taken in between those few picks and keep pick 2

Errr no. You realise Whitlock went before pick 25 right???

I'm genuinely not sure what you're trying to argue here, sorry.

Matt Whitlock was drafted with the 27th pick. To get Richmond's pick, North Melbourne traded our 2025 1st round pick (currently pick 2) for it and Richmond's 2025 2nd round pick.

If we hadn't traded pick 25 for Caleb Daniel, we could have used it to draft Whitlock without giving up our 2025 1st.

That's the argument people make.

Well dogs must be burning that we got an AA premiership player still in his 20s off them for a mere throwaway pick like #25 then.

Brady defeats Sam Power 1-0.

So just ignore the fact that pick 25 became pick 29 on the night and WB used that to draft Lachie Jacques. Whitlock went 2 picks earlier.

You realise that or just stupid?

First things first, I'm not sure why you're being so aggressive.

Secondly...

We took Whitlock with 27. Our original pick of 25 (that became 29 on the night as you note) was two picks later. Neither Sims nor Jacques are KPDs, so I think it's a fair assumption to make that Whitlock likely would have still been available at 29.

And if he wasn't, I don't think Whitlock is any significantly better than Sims/Jacques in terms of potential.
