The only surprising move is that there are 5. All were in the firing line, it was just a matter of whether the club thought it possible to pick up a better option in the 4th round. I don't think we'll see Schmidt upgraded given his injury scenario and certainly not Henderson or Donnolley. #61 is alive.

Excuse the intrusion but could someone tell me where Schmidt sits at the moment? Is he pushing hard for promotion, etc?

The last time I heard he was out for the season with a shoulder reconstruction IIRC and of course my interest comes from the fact he was originally on our list. I haven't been able to find much discussion about him in you "Locker Room", etc.
Was pushing for upgrade prior to a season ending injury.

Played well enough to earn a SANFL SA rep spot.

Kite should be dissappointed, he has the most 'potential' of the lot. Be intersting to see if he gets picked up.

Don't have any complaints at all about these delistings...

With regards to Tom Lee...we can't be using a senior spot on our list on a guy who averaged 6 touches in the SANFL reserves.

Wow, Lee! He had a ridiculously poor year but it was his 1st, as a KPP, coming to a new state. Honestly didn't expect him to be cut. Then again, 5-6 touches in the SANFL, who can explain that?

I think Kite might get a run on someone elses rookie list. He's got potential, overrated potential on this board, but it's there nonetheless. He's got some upside and maybe back in his home state he could turn out alright. Disappointed that he didn't fulfil his potential here.

Shirley's time was up, and Gill and Gallman were certainties, I just hope Gallman isn't rookie listed as he's as bland as they come.

So we have 4 ND picks as it stands.

1 - Will we use pick #61 on a U18 player dispite Rendell saying how shallow the draft is?

2 - Will we promote Schmidt?

3 - Will we use #61 on Mature player, a Jesse Smith or a wildcard?

I have a feeling a Melbourne club may take a punt, not sure who, in either the ND or RD. It seems he just couldnt get things right in his time at Adelaide, especially the last half of this year. Arr well, was only ever a rusty 'project' player taken in the 70s of the ND, not a huge loss, but it wouldve been nice to see it work out.

3rd option I reckon, although option 2 is also viable. Cant see the first one happening though after what Rendell has said about the depth of the draft.

I heard that North were keen on Kitey.
That definetley sounds like it could be true, as North did lose Gibson, who played that 3rd defender most of the time (I know he tagged too). So maybe Kitey could be his replacement, if North think they can get the most outta him.

interesting...
all 5 delistings seem like the right move to make though.

Shirley - i honestly felt sorry for the guy, because he would only be considered as an inclusion if there was a big name to tag/shutdown...otherwise, he wasn't needed.
Gallman - unlucky with injuries, but who knows, he may get a second chance in RD like others have suggested (unless he's too old?).
Gill - 27 years old...can't change bad kicking habits; should've really been delisted last year (but kept on because Hentschel and Burton would be returning from injuries).
Kite - progressed forwards, then went backwards. good luck to the kid though.
Lee - 1st year draftee...bit unlucky IMO, but that's football, and the crows wanted an extra pick in the draft (national or pre-season) and he was the least impressive of the 1st years.

the main concern i see is, from the departures of 2009, none were regulars in the starting 22...so it will be hard to see how the youngsters like Cook, Sloane, Armstrong, Jacky, Moran (will fight Sellar for a spot), Petrenko and McKernan breaking into the side.

i seriously doubt Schmidt will be upgraded this year...
if he does demand a starting 22 spot early next year, he can always be upgraded then, because Brodie Martin would be on the long-term injury list.

i also think though, it was partly because he was keen on going back to melbourne and ive heard, he knew that his time was up quite a while ago.

hopefully he gets a chance with another club, who knows, going back to melbourne could be a turn around for him?

2 is definately out of the question.
3 is a possible outcome,
but i think 1 will happen. Rendell might be hoping for someon he rates which other clubs don't to slip down that far to #61.
Remember, he rates about only 30 odd players, but that doesn't mean everyone else rates them as the top 30 picks. Some of the players he rates might end up being picked up in the 50/60's, or even in the rookie draft. Yoou just don't know with Rendall.

Seriously think Shirley has been a bit hard done by. Crows best tagger surely there is someone worse than him still on the list.

Had to be 5. Next year we could possibly have at least 4 changes with the veterans going, and thats not allowing for players that would have been delisted anyway. Next years draft is going to be worse than this year.

I reckon Lee will be a rookie next year

I hope this happens because he hasn't really been settled at all this year.
Video's of his pre draft days show a kid with huge promise.
I would have given him another year but then again I would have delisted a few of our more mature members.
Still like that word potential and at his age and a KPP I thought he was worth keeping.

Why not Henderson, whats the story there?

The actual draft will be much better, but we won't have a pick for a while.
