well he's been in our best 22 for years now, and played in every finals we've been in since 2002.

Though this year ive got the feeling it might have been because of vBs injury more than anything.

Really happy with the 5 delistings instead of just 3. I would rather have a crack at a youngster than keep an older guy on the list who wont be a first 22 player but may have been a handy depth player.

Can't say I saw a lot of Lee live but I'm not convinced yet that he was worth dropping given the trouble he did have with injuries. What I did see was a young kid who could take a grab with plenty of size. Big blokes take a bit longer to find their feet and he must have shown the club something to invest a draft pick with.

.Back in the early days of the draft an NFL head recruited was interviewed on wide world of sports He said the key to drafting was to admit your mistakes, cut your losses, and move on.Smith showed how true this is

. So another 4 ND picks next year is very likely.}\

With a list of 40 even average career of 8 years requires 5 new faces every year ( I think 8 years is probably way too high) Take a couple less for a few years and a big number is required to get back on course We have had a lot of 300 games players recently but going forward there is likely to be more turnover in the list

I must confess to being a bit surprised that the club decided to axe all 5 of them. None of the players were a surprise, as we'd all identified them as the 5 most likely. The only surprise was that they all went, when only 3 or 4 departures were expected.

In terms of Drummond & Kite - Drummond was the first to pump up his tyres back in 2008, he was also the first to deflate them this year. Credit where it's due.

I suspect the decision to delist Lee this year (rather than in 2010) was driven by the decision to retain all of the veterans. Lee's performances in the SANFL magoos marked him as a delisting sooner rather than later, the only question was 2009 or 2010.

It's highly likely that 3 of the 4 veterans, if not all, will be gone at the end of 2010. Hentschel remains a 50-50 prospect at best. Assuming that 1 or 2 players fail to make the grade in 2010 (as is inevitably the case) and we're already looking at 5-6 selections in a draft which has been decapitated. Presumably the club made the decision that a 4th round selection in 2009 is a better bet in the long run than a 7th round selection in 2010.
