Gill, Gallman, Kite and Shirley came at no surprise. Thought Lee could've been given another year. He has a poor start but he is still raw. How Jacky got a new contract is beyond me.

Picks #13, #29 and #45 will be used, #61 will probably be used now on either a smokey or a mature age pick.

I'm not too happy about Lee being delisted after only 1 year. Not only does it further stuff up our salary cap, but FFS give the poor kid a chance. As a bottom aged KPP (he is still only 18) taken late in the draft, surely we didn't expect a lot. He was pretty poor in the SANFL reserves, but he was hampered by injuries, and wasn't much worse than Sellar in his first 2 seasons. Athletic, possesses great hands and has a thumping kick - I'm sure there's talent there once he gets his head right.

Meanwhile we keep Griffin who has done sweet crap all in 5 years and has gone backwards this year and Jacky who is one of the worst 20 year olds on an AFL list. Even Gallman showed more promise than Jacky.

Had to be 5. Next year we could possibly have at least 4 changes with the veterans going, and thats not allowing for players that would have been delisted anyway. Next years draft is going to be worse than this year.

I agree, I have copped heaps of flak on here from people, but I continually pushed the idea that we would delist 5 and have 4 picks in the draft.

It made sense, Shirley was the victim because we have kept our senior players and IMO we needed to take 4 players in the draft as next year we will possibly have 4-5 senior players retiring at the end of 2010. It would throw our list balance out of whack only having two younger draftees if we move 4-5 experienced on at the end of 2010.

We need to have a reasonable sized group of 2nd year players in 2011 as we may need them to fill spots in our side. If we kept Shirley and only took 2 players in the draft, it would have been a decision that could have hurt us in 2011 as we would be putting too much pressure on our list with possibly too few to bring though in 2011. This year draft picks will be with 2011 in mind.

I do not think that all 4 veterans will go next year. No doubt probably 2 maybe 3, i am pretty sure Burton will try to get at least another couple out of his body. Goody i think can get some more as long as his body holds up and if the draft is as C**p as you recon both will be better than pick 30 onwards in the draft anyway. I think Macca and Tyson have both earn't the right to call the end and will see the writing on the wall if any massive slip in form.
You are a long time out of the game as i am starting to realize in my own small circumstance and do not bemoan these guys playing for as long as they are performing. I think they have given the AFC enough to give them this.

The whole Goody will be better than pick 30 argument is ridiculous. You have to have far more foresight with your list management. Will Goody be better than pick 30 after Goody has retired ?

This year we are drafting with 2011 in mind, the truth is that Shirley would have had more impact in 2010 than all of our draftees combined in 2010, but you cant run your list like that. We are drafting this year to balance our list in 2011 after our veterans retire. We are looking further ahead with our list management than just the next season

most of us had the delisted players in the mix it was always a question of will it be Lee or Kite or both

what this tells me is that we may go to the PSD or have a mature age recruit i mind for the draft

Bit surprised by the delistings. Not particularly the names but the number of them. All were pretty much up for delisting but I thought given the shitty draft, we would delist 4 and upgrade Martin meaning 3 picks.

This either means that we are planning to upgrade Schmidt, or save a pick for the PSD or Rendell is confident he can pick up 4 quality kids in this draft.

Certainly won't take 4 18/19 year olds IN THIS DRAFT .........and if another rookie was to be upgraded with Martin IMO that would have already been announced

Think the plan is to take 3 national draft picks and then a recycled player in the PS draft

Wow, Lee! He had a ridiculously poor year but it was his 1st, as a KPP, coming to a new state. Honestly didn't expect him to be cut. Then again, 5-6 touches in the SANFL, who can explain that?

I think Kite might get a run on someone elses rookie list. He's got potential, overrated potential on this board, but it's there nonetheless. He's got some upside and maybe back in his home state he could turn out alright. Disappointed that he didn't fulfil his potential here.

Shirley's time was up, and Gill and Gallman were certainties, I just hope Gallman isn't rookie listed as he's as bland as they come.

Agree with your thoughts on Gallman .........just nothing in his game that stands out ......and at his height he needs to be far quicker and more agile

Don't disagree with any of those delistings.
Disappointed for Shirley, Kite and Moss. The other 3 just showed they weren't up to scratch.

These statements are wrong on so many levels it inconceivable youu were sober when you posted them

Firstly have you seen Lee play live .......if not don't comment or better still don't regurgitate BF views also from people who haven't seen him play

Sure he has to pull his finger out and make a determined effort to fight to play AFL ........but in the first half of 2008 he was excellent and kept Maric out of the side ......then to get injured

This year he was injured but no excuse he had a crap season ........but to generalize that he's done nothing is plain wrong

He's got the potential to be a VERY GOOD player ..........and last season there were glimpses

This season for whatever reason he lost confidence and his season went south at a million miles an hour

But don't judge his abilities, potential, or career on a bad season .......for those who have played any sport I'll guarantee you've all had at least one season to forget .......I know I have

Didn't expect 5 at all but they are the right calls. We need to keep turning the list over especially with 4/5 oldies still running around. Didn't think Lee would get the chop, however averaging below 10 possessions a game in the SANFL ressies is just not good enough for an AFL listed player.
