It sounds like he’s supposed to complement the midfield we’ll have in 2025-2030, not the one we have in the next couple of years during a rebuild.

The players he’s most similar to are 10-12 years older than him. Viewed in that light it makes sense to balance out Caldwell, Hobbs, Perkins, Durham, Martin, rather than worrying about how he’ll fit in a midfield of Parish, Merrett, Shiel, Langford.

Where will Parish, Zerrett, Langford be?

By the time the group around Tsatas’ age is in their prime the older guys will be either retired or playing the fat side role off a flank.
Like Langford and Parish are 30 in 5 years time, they will be playing the same roles they do now unless Perkins, Caldwell have become stars

We simply picked best available with Tsatas

I see us cashing in on parish next year.
Merrett is 27. When he's 30, tsatas is 21
Langford a year older.

Lore is right. We need to look beyond this midfield for the long term.
Draper will spend most his career tapping down to hobbs, caldwell, tsatas, perkins and maybe martin.

They might be still playing the roles they play now but both have had injury troubles before and are as likely as not to play the Zaharakis and Heppell roles in five years time.

I've never been a fan of gun under 18 players starting out in other positions.
Learning another position first before trying the position where your strength lies has stunted lots of players for the rest of their careers.
Learn a second position after or use it as a resting change 80/20, not 20/80.

If and when he's ready for an AFL game - straight into the middle!

Id consider martin in there too. Has size, strength, class and endurance. May be less grunt but could add a touch of x factor in there
Martin is a winger. Just leave him there.

Prediction: Elijah will be picked in the VFL in round 1 and ****ing destroy it. We’re forced to pick him in the ones on performance and he stays there for the rest of his career.

The jumper he got given on stage and wore for photos afterwards had his name and 5 on the back as well 😊 there are tweets somewhere with the pics
That just said pick 5 though that was a coincidence

Last year Hobbs was wearing 8 on his new jumper on the night so I figured it’s his actual number again this year 😊

Also makes it easier to have the jumper ready in advance if it’s his jumper number, although Ashcroft was always going before our pick so our pick being 5 was a safe enough bet too

The T is silent.

Just like all the flogs who doubt this pick will be in a couple of years time.

great post

Ahaha

If you want to talk up Tsatas at least pick one of his good games before the foot injury. That game against country was a Parish/Merrett game where they get it 30 odd times with minimal impact. He wasn’t even in the best handful of metro players that day.

He’s a soft winger hearing some of you guys call it, I really don’t care if it was a parish or merett game. He still went inside mid, he still got 30 touches, he still won multiple free kicks off j Clark by getting the ball first.

If wardlaw was playing and feeding it to him he would’ve had a completely different game.

But yeah keep moving the goalposts, imagine talking about rating top age form as a counterpoint with how dominant tsatas has been when he played, are you cooked?

All wingers should be working to the backline

Non negotiable
Actually that is not how it always works. Often you have a defensive winger and an attacking winger. One works back. The other pushes forward.
