We’re 70 games into this now, this is who he is. He’s fine but he’s not making us better either, he might be a bottom 4 player in a finals team but that’s it.
He's not a bad player, but he wasn't good enough to make the team when we were contending last time and he won't be the next time.

However, the player who takes his spot probably hasn't even been drafted yet.

I’d rather McAuliffe or Smillie in the side tbh.

I feel they’re very different players to Ross though, neither of them have the same kind of tank or endurance at this stage. Ross is more of an outside player than them, he had only 6 centre bounce clearances today. Smille and McAullife are the kind of players you want inside the contest, attending centre bounces and dominating contested possessions.

This year Ross averages 6 contested but 13 uncontested disposals a game, he’s not playing an inside role.

McIntosh is the one who’s been playing a lot more as an inside midfielder and had 14 CBA’s today, i think it’s Kamdyn’s role they should be taking not Ross’.

be interested to know how many of those cbas were when Kmac was contesting the ruck. I can think of 3 off top of my head.

But Smillie is a first receiver mid, he’s brilliant in transition, his kicking is weapon on outside. Plus he could easy play HFF as he did for vic metro.

Mcaullife I just want in the team and don’t see a future for Ross, plus it would be nice if TT and hopper were not at every ****ing centre bounce and had some speed in there.

If they have to drop Kmac, I’m all for that, but at least if shit hits the fan you can basically ask him to play kpb, wing, ruck or mid and he’ll give you his all, Ross is playing in a role that is traditionally a spot your young players play in and he’s 25 later this year.

Ross had 3 direct goal involvements, and set up another chance with a great kick. Once he went into the middle we started to get our hands on the ball because he got some ground ball gets, something MacIntosh, Hopper and Taranto don't seem to be able to do. Ross gets involved with a lot of our chains of play.

He was a bit scratchy early, but he is far from our biggest problem.

Basically this. With the occasional blinder.

His decision making and running himself into trouble is the worst part of his game. However if he can improve that then he can become a solid foot soldier as he’s shown he can find it.

What role did he play last night ? I watched the game but always find with Ross that he just pops up here and there, gets his 20 odd possessions which don’t really hurt the opposition
Imo he’s one that has to make way for McAullife, Smillie etc.. don’t see him as best 22.
Still think he’s ok to have on the list - a depth player

From what I saw he played half forward first Q, went into the middle more in the second, then back to half forward for the start of the third. So in and out of the middle but more forward.

Terrible first qtr but worked himself into it. He’s a role player at best and that’s fine. Wouldn’t mind seeing him tried as a run with player at some stage as he has a strong body and pretty good endurance.
