You'd have to think Mitch Robinson would be a fair chance of winning the Most Courageous Award at tomorrow nights AFLPA Awards tomorrow night.

I suspect Victorian darling Dylan Grimes will get the award, but my bias is obviously evident. Brad Shepherd of the Eagles would have to also be in contention for the award.

Mccluggage would have made it if they picked actual wingers instead of putting mids on the wing. That was a bit of a disappointing decision. Also agree with D King about Turn, how was he not captain?

Very impressive what Harris Andrews has managed to achieve after last year’s injury. Many in the media and on this board wondered if he’d ever be the same player again. We needn’t have worried. Congratulations to all 3

I thought it was the Joel Selwood award

Grundy was a lock (no issues there) but then tossing in Gawn to boot was an absolute joke.

Neither of them could be classed capable of "resting" forward to any great effect.

Pendles gets another gong, just like Goodwin and Selwood used to get them on reputation.

I'm disappointed McCluggage and Zorks missed out, although not suprised.

Still, three reps in the side is amazing considering from how far back we've come as a club this year:thumbsu::thumbsu:

It diminishes the significance of it a little bit when both Gawn and Grundy are selected. The whole point of the AA team is to be among the best in your position, proportional to how many players in your position there are running around each week.

This AA team is basically like the Demons this year when they had Gawn & Preuss both playing, unbalanced, no outside run & way too many inside mids. What's new tho.

Hit the nail right on the head there Tairy.

This event is always going to be compromised while they basically just try to pick all the big name mids and squeeze them into positions where bona fide players miss out.

Typical AFL though.

Not much isn't compromised anymore.

That's the one voted by the players, right?

Most players don't watch most of the games outside of the ones they kind of have to.
Really, if ever there was a flawed award, the AFLPA awards are it.

IMO, it’s as close to a popularity contest as you’d see based on nothing more than the players perception and what they’ve “heard” not what they’ve actually seen consistently. By many players own admission, they don’t watch any other games other than cropped footage of upcoming opponents, yet every single player votes. Then there’s also many young players that would be influenced by senior players in their team on how they’re voting too.

I’m not denying Cripps isn’t an upcoming player or that Neale should’ve won the award, but Cripps was very poor in the first half of the season by his own admission and was soundly beaten by his opponents on many occasions so those that voted were very much biased by his form in the back half of the year when Carlton were winning and the media hype went into overdrive.

I can’t say I’m surprised Robinson didn’t take out the Most Corageous Award as flagged a couple of days ago.

I like it when biased lions fans complain about other people's biases

IMO Cripps is the MVP. Carlton walk taller when he’s in the team. He’s a notable omission when he’s out because they don’t have any other players in the team of his calibre (yet).
