Anyone familiar with this religion/group/ideology?
Harlem based religion derived from Islam that essentially believes in a Supreme Mathematics and a Supreme Alphabet, and that all power is knowledge is derived from the study of math and latin.
They believe the world is made up of 85% sheep, 10% who understand how the world works but use it for their own gain, and 5% who understand how the world works but will try to fight the 10% on behalf of the 85%. Not surprisingly, they consider the 10% to be predominantly American white people and the 5% to be predominantly African American. The main point they make is that 'God' was never meant to be hidden away (the 'mystery' god of christianity) and that in fact, Asiatic Black men are the true representation of god and the natural leaders on earth.
If any of this sounds familiar its because practically every significant black entertainer from NYC is a member. The lingo of the 5% nation has become the lingo of Hiphop, mathematics is the basis for the music. If you factor in the sheer cultural dominance of the African American people (music, politics, sports, acting etc) in the last 50 years, it might have some real merit that at least its a positive way of thinking...
Its hard to argue that overall its a fairly positive movement, and even though it sounds very racial it isn't inherently racist. For example, Mike Tyson was told by a 5%'er to give up on his friends from the ghetto and his way of life, and embrace Cus C'Damato as his new family - because family should help you thrive not hold you back.
Anyway I noticed a lot of the imagery that was quoted in those "Satanic imagery' threads are actually 5%er stuff, and its meant as a warning not a threat (the stuff like the all seeing eye, the one finger to the sky - i.e. there is nobody between man and god, that's an Islamic thing).
In any case I'm a non theist, but I'm a big fan of African/Black American culture and politics and just wondered how familiar other BF posters are with this movement. Doesn't seem anything to be worried about (apologies, I know this sub forum is meant to make everyone scared), just a bunch of really talented black entertainers trying to succeed and teach math.
Oh and all those pictures of JayZ and Beyonce being Satanists? Yeah that's bullshit too:

See that symbol on his chain? That's the official 5% Nation symbol. Jigga isn't hiding anything, he's a black entertainer from New York and a 5% Nation member. He isn't worshipping satan. He is worshipping a black jesus, a black allah and a black god (the more accurate version, in all likelihood). And he loves, LOVES, MATHEMATICS.
As far as any conspiracy? Their conspiracy is that America is a ******* racist country and its hard for black people to succeed in conventional industries. Entertainment, athletics, music etc are pretty much the main options for a black person to succeed in the USA - the 5% nation gives them something of a 'blacks only' screen actors guild with a bit of added muscle for protection (I'm tipping Jay saw what happened to Tupac and Biggie when white peoples money was at risk...)
So yeah, that's your illuminati right there. Not so scary though really. they say stuff like this though:
"As Knight also explained in an essay for Vice, "The first lesson I learned from the Five Percent was simple: * white people. Seriously, 'White people are devils.'"
Some people would be scared by that but it isn't meant to be taken literally.
