So how do we get Hayward to have a superficial injury just so that he can go into beast mode
Every game make sure he has some kind of strapping either on the head or on the shoulder or any body part that will remind him that he is "injured".

Pretty sure I hadn't called for him to be dropped until a few weeks ago.

But it's called being fair and balanced.

I think he has under-performed all year.

And I think he has been one of our best players across the 2022-2024 period in which we've been pretty damn successful.

Both things can be true at once.
You've been asking "what does he do except tackle" and wanted him to be dropped for this very game then you turn around and say we don't have 14 better players, in response to my post suggesting that he would be among the first picked every game.

Our season is on a knife edge, and you want a proven performer who is in our best dozen dropped?

Can't have it both ways.

What is the Heeney incident? I was at the game and nothing jumped out at me?

When Grundy got caught trying to run around the saints ruck and got caught HTB, apparently Heeney copped someone high with a jumper punch

Since you were at the game DQ can I ask, did you notice how if Mills was organising the defence or his own positioning?

I wouldn’t say so, no.

He does lead the post-goal chat among the back 6, but he’s not as vocal as Sir Dane in general play.

Having said that, he is still a solid presence at centre half back. I reckon we’d be in real strife if both Mills and Sir Dane were missing.

The other thing I’ll say - Harry Cunningham is just such a smart footballer. You really notice how he’s just always in the right spot at the right time. I reckon we likely underestimate how much we missed him when he was out earlier in the season.

You actually can have it both ways.

If I'm discussing selection, obviously it is about recent form.

If I'm discussing how good a player is, obviously it is about what they've shown in their career.

It was Sam

Sam is even more impressive in the flesh this year down back , he closes down his man gives no space and saves others bacon a lot, quite like the duo with Cunningham, wasn’t sure they’d both fit in the side.

Whether he's the 1st, 10th, 14th or 20th player on the list, my point was that his effort, and willingness to go all day and do the hard stuff makes him amongst the first picked every week. You wanted him dropped.

That's the crux of it but instead of justifying your baffling call to have him dropped in favour of Cleary of all people, you just wanted to argue the toss about the random number I assigned to him.

As others have pointed out, every metric would suggest that the Rowbottom we're seeing this season is only very slightly down on the player you're referencing from 22-24 so again, not sure how wanting him dropped vibes with your assessment of him as a player.

That McInerney 50, I guess is technically there...but **** me it happens 30 times a game and they pluck one or two out randomly here or there. What fan, coach, player or umpire likes that stupid rule? Why do they persist with it when everyone despises it.
How 4 umpires miss that clear Buller HTB tackle is beyond me. Then they pay random ones, where the player barely has time to pick the thing up.

Umpiring is hard yes, but the consistency is crazy poor for a professional sport. They brought in 4 umpires to try and improve the standard, surprise, surprise it's deteriorated to an almost unwatchable state. Fans have always whinged about umps (sometimes too much) and yes there's always been controversial moments and there always will be, but the key word there is moments....I can't remember it having sooo much influence over the course of 4 quarters as it has since they brought in the 4th one. Way, way, way too many incorrect calls are happening....and yeah we're on the receiving end of some of those shit calls at times too.

Hope Harley and Swan get into AFL house and actually fixes this...the state of the rules and officiating is a huge problem in the game atm. Don't worry about dumb mid-season tournaments and crap like that fix the ****ing rules, they're in the worst state they've ever been in at least consistency wise.

SYDNEY key defender Tom McCartin's short-term future is unclear after he again entered concussion protocols following a knock to the head late in Sunday's narrow victory over St Kilda.

McCartin was felled as Saints debutant Max Heath reached to take a mark on the lead and hit the turf face first.

No he didnt he copped a full fist to the face.

I’m still perplexed how they couldn’t pa the holding the ball in front of goal. He had it for a while so prior wasn’t an issues was wrapped up and just dropped it with zero attempt. There is no other reason to not call that when you’re staring directly at it unless you have an agenda not to.

Wish we could cop our James HIrd fine by singling out an ump publicly like he did to MCBurney

Typical Victorian media

I was near the Swans cheer squad along with plenty of others. We were noisy.
So you and your wife and Dubai Quacker and his wife and The King! and his wife all attended the game coming from interstate.

Was there some catch up that you know my invitation get lost to?
Cos it used always happen when I was at kindergarten and school as well and at university and in every job I ever worked...

Why do we turn Mason Wood into wayne carey when we play him!

It looked so soft.

Idk why you guys keep saying this. He got smashed in the face. It drew blood. His cheek swelled up. There was nothing soft about it. Anyone would be groggy after that. It’s a world away from the weird incident that ended his brother’s career. That was inexplicably soft. This was much harder and more understandable.

I was looking around the fans near me wondering who might be one of you people .

Cheer squad take their role seriously ...

Where’s Robbie Fox these days? I seem to remember he was injured, but he hasn’t played at all this season. Is it like a really bad injury or Cox just doesn’t rate him?
