1. Harley Bennell retires and leaves the system prior to his contract completion. Freo are going to have to pay him whatever they agreed this year, so they may well make it via injury so they might be able to move some outside theTPP.

It seems they've done what they can and their welfare department has other new arrivals and youngsters to look after. The resources would be better spent elsewhere.

2. More rumblings of discontent from the Bulldogs. They have had a large player turnover for what's being sold as a young developing list.

A lot of premiership heroes seem to have gone into sharp decline, and the issue now us to create the right environment for the young talent that has come in.

I dont think they're ready to face the need for change just yet, and with the 2016 still giving them a warm glow, it'll take a while.

3. The Crows will march straight past the injury curse and the questioning of their culture and surge back into premiership contention. They may have made a misstep but they remain fundamentally a strong list with a strong club culture in my view.

4. Brett Deledio may not last the season. He's been a great player and can still play. His track record with us is fresh injury every time he starts to look like a good trade though.

No-one's fault in my view, medicals pre-trade are about probability and you can make a good bet and lose. No-one has faulted his commitment and effort. Sometimes these things happen sadly.

5. The resurgence in the value of rucks to continue. The centre square changes will create some space for the better rucks to target their teamates advantage. The ability to take the ball directly will remove some of the nonsense shortarse "dead rucks" we've seen in the last couple of years.

1. A midfielder will win the Brownlow......and it will be someone who already has a Charlie under his belt!
2. A champion will be struck down by a season ending knee injury
3. Channel 9's new Footy Show will be an absolute fizzer (like everything else coming out of 9)
4. A scandal will rock an interstate team that features a bird as its mascot
5. James Hird will not ride a bike in 2019

1 Carlton finish 18th
2 Crows win the flag
3 AFL grant Carlton the first pick as a PP
4 AFL create Superhero Round where jumpers are changed to look like Marvel Superheroes (as they tried with the AFLW). Jumpers created are more akin to costumes at Dreamworld than AFL jumpers.
5 Gil stands down after the public ridicule resulting from the above decision.

I think '5' is the least believable of these.

1. Pies and Bombers to either finish low in the bottom 8 or miss completely.
2. Crows resurgence and finish within the top 6.
3. GWS top 4, they're not done yet.
4. AFL Footy Show to finally be put on an indefinite hiatus after these specials are aired and get extremely low viewership.
5. AFL to finally come to terms with AFLX being a shambles and either finally opt for just one more JLT game or (and I doubt it) finally give us what we want in SoO (even if it's only fringe players/draftees that play).

Let's see how well this ages.

1. GWS gets a clean injury run and makes the Grand Final. Toby Greene isn't suspended for this game, but does something that results in a 2020 rule change.
2. Dylan Shiel goes top 5 in the Brownlow. Hawthorn posters continue to insist they didn't want him anyway.
3. Carlton takes out the wooden spoon. Adelaide rejoices.
4. Gold Coast doesn't come in the bottom 2. They come 16th with a surprisingly high percentage in the 80s.
5. One ex-Gold Coast captain plays in the 2019 Grand Final. It's Steven May and it's Melbourne v GWS.

666 makes bugger all difference - clubs adjust quickly.
Super competitive for the top 8 - last round decides who's in and out and the top 4.
GC start to look like a football club
Scoring stays low, but pressure increases - more contests than ever
In the second half of the season the Tom Lynch - Jack Riewoldt based forward line goes nuts.

How can you say that after reading 2?

Do you really think there is *anything* that would cause Gil to accept responsibility for a mistake and resign?

Carlton winning the 2019 flag is more likely that that.

3. Majak Daw stays with the club and attends at least one game.
4. The AFL media go into hyperdrive over some confected outrage.
5. AFL 360 continues its slide towards mediocrity, too much Gerard.

1. Shane McAdam will be called 'the new Eddie Betts' a hundred times.
2. Saints fans will be all in on Paddy McCartin at $20-1 for the Coleman Medal in March. By late April they will be sheepishly hoping to get their money back.
3. The AFL integrity unit will receive multiple tip offs about suspicious betting on matches. Gil will make sure they are buried and not brought to light.
4. Harley Bennell will be delisted. Ross Lyon will be an obnoxious flog.
5. Carlton will be s**t, but unfathomably, everybody will somehow still respect Stephen Silvagni

4. One final will go to extra time
5. Tanking accusations will be thrown around at the bye
