Melbourne
AFL Club
Essendon
Other Teams
Everton, Storm, Victory
FB: Nash, Pears, Winderlich
HB: Dempsey, Ryder, Houli
C: Lovett, Dyson, Hislop
HF: Hooker, Gumbleton, Reimers
FF: Jetta, Neagle, Davey
Foll: Laycock, Watson, Stanton
Interchange: Bellchambers, Monfries, Lonergan, Myers (Magin, Hocking, Atkinson, Williams, Dick, Lee)

IMO with that list in 5 years would be pushing for a premiership and still have strong depth, not including future drafting and trades that take place. Maybe need another KPP for both ends

We've got a hell of a lot of development to do between here and a flag.
Imagine Carlton's list 5 years down the track. Or west coast for that matter.

I cant wait for the day Carlton and Essendon are both on top of the ladder fighting out where we should be. I wouldn't mind seeing West Coast up there aswell

Like '93. My first real memories of AFL. Wanganeen Brownlow medallist. Norm Smith medallist Michael Long running from centre wing and goaling despite silvagnis diving effort. I must have watched that grand final tape at least 30 times.

Nice looking side that that may be the side sooner than in five years time also I note you make no mention of Lovett-Murray and you have Windlelich in the back pocket also I would image David Hillie would still be playing

It looks nice but I was reading the other day an article in an old Bomber mag about the the up and comers I must admit not many are still around.

NLM will be 30-31 and might have retired or lost form. Yeah Winders was hard to squeeze into the side but noticed last week he was playing out of the backline, the side is probably missing 2-3 Defenders, a small, a 3rd tall and (seeing Ryder was saying on the Radio yesterday that he was going to move into the ruck when Pears starts coming on) we need a replacement for Ryder.

Of all the boots to fill of the Sheedy era, youve stuck poor old Pears into the biggest. (Sir James does not count of course, you dont earmark players to replace the irreplacable)

Actually, full back worries me long term. There is no obvious replacement yet, and Gadget / Mal arnt exactly long term prospects.

Anyway, alot of water to go under the bridge in 5 years. The trades and drafts... id be suprised if more than half that 22 youve named is in our best 22 in 2013.

Why would you be worried about FB long term?

Pears will be a great FB/CHB for us and already has the body to play the position if needed.

If i were you i would be more concerned about getting a MF that can win us a flag.

Haven't read through the other comments...but you missed Darcy Daniher.

I would place Hooker in the backline and place Daniher in the forward line.

Considering there are five more drafts/trade periods etc. to come in the next five years, these threads are pretty pointless and usually hugely inaccurate.
