Roast 50/50-Rong Rucci Reckoning - The R-Files

Not sure why they get upset about it.

Greg Boulton stood on stage and said "the new nickname for the club is Port Power", even their first theme song had Port Power in it.

Rucci is one of those people who tries to retrospectively re-write history and hopes people are either too lazy or dumb to go back and check.

What the * was that crap? Amateur presentation - all over the place and no cohesion. They haven't improved at all 20 years later. Stand for nothing!

Yes, whilst Rucci is lazy with his facts and doesn't check anything. Doesn't mean everyone else does.

Port Power, Port Power!

What is the thing with port power? Didn't their song say it once upon s time? Maybe pear power then?

When Port first joined the AFL, in a bid to broaden their appeal the Port bigwigs like Greg Boulton and Bucky Cunningham came up with the idea of Port being known as Port Power.

Their logo, song and merchandise all had Port Power on/in it and all the players and officials referred to the club as Port Power. Even the premiership tables back then had Port Power, it was used in much the same as the Western Bulldogs name is.

Fast forward a couple of years and Rucci and other Port supporters started crying because they weren't marketing "Port Adelaide" enough and was sick of people telling them it was a different club so the club eventually stopped using Port Power and changed their merchandise, song etc to remove any trace of it.

Now Rucci and the like try and pretend that Port Power is some derogatory name that Crows supporters came up with and deny it's true origin as a Port created moniker that was used as the official title for the club from 97-99

Thankfully Kym Dillon, who I actually respect now, pretty much spoke over Rucci and said that it one of the worst things that he's ever written and he just needs to accept the constant criticism that he gets because of it.

Just on this I was never a big Kym Dillon fan but the last few years he has changed my mind, he is the only media person in this town who will repeatedly call out the bullshit and spin sprouted by Rucci and Port Power.

Once again he's gone crying to the AFL about us.

"You need to stop Adelaide standing like that during the anthem"

Clearly we have Rucci spooked if he's reached that point where he's now jumping at shadows and running to the AFL about every conceivable thing we do.

Lol, breaking the big issues...

Meanwhile there is a civil war down at Port that he is completely oblivious to...

if he doesn't write about, in his mind its not happening and every thing is hunky dory :p

I noticed the puff piece he wrote about Hinkley. He's trying to pretend that Gold Coast came knocking, but Ken has decided to stay and that no promise had been made to Hinkley about a new contract.

Hahahahahahaha typical Rucci, once again spin doctoring and sweeping things under carpet.

Everyone knows that Port offered Ken a new contract and made other promises in order to get him to stay, but as always Rucci will report the complete opposite so that it doesn't reflect badly for Port.

Haven't you heard, Kenny and Kochie kissed and made up :D
Yeah, they bought Kenny's happiness with a few more hundred thousand dollars per year... but we all know it isn't going to last long before motor mouth makes it uncomfortable again. ;)
