Good to see we are catching on and the powers at be also that he should remain in the 50 and nowhere near the middle.
The thing with Drew having stints in the middle is 1) hes got an engine & 2) he can find himself matched up on smaller players and able to be a get out kick.

I agree. I reckon if Petrie wants to go on next year then he spends a lot more time in the middle

Hes such a hard worker and his multiple leads at the ball really show the areas Daw needs to work on. I hope Daw watches BBB's footage because at the game he just does not stop moving.

I think he needs a game against the Lions or someone like that where he kicks 7 or so and then i think he will really take the game by storm. Its nice the media now acknowledge how good he is getting.

Pick #47 - amazing

He took both his grabs this way. His run in and jump were unimpeded.
He played quite a lot in the middle some years ago & I used to like his game then. As you say, very high workrate, serviceable ruckman...and I reckon it aids his time up fwd too as it gets him involved & he touches the ball more

Agreed. Drew was the original forward/ruckman before Leigh Brown the spud came along.

I look at Riewoldt, Blicavs are a couple that spring to mind doing midfield roles. Not against Drew having spells in the middle and then going forward and getting dangerous like he did on Saturday night.

I can see him kicking 80 goals if we work out an effective forward line plan and deliver well. He nailed the balls that were in front of him and in space on the weekend. Its a lot harder to do that now than it was in Dunstall's day, but if stays in the square and you get him some space and put the ball in front of him he's very hard to beat. That doesn't take into account how good our forward line could be in a few years.

Our forward line with the likes of Wood, Thomas, Higgins and potentially JZ, Daw, Durdin and MacKay and then Garner, Turner, Wagner, and even maybe Dumont also providing options looks to even to allow anyone 80 goals. And you could probably add Boomer to that list for another 7 years.

So more realistically if we use him well and have a good side up the field he should kick 50 a year, multiple years in a row, on several different occasions.

At the moment with our forward structure I don't think he'll ever kick over 70 goals, but what I would be comfortable with is him hitting 40-50 just about most years in the next 10 years.

Because he's pretty quick and nimble for his size and he grabs the full at a high point and is hard to match up on hes very dangerous. I love his endeavour and his preparation is very good. I've always been a huge fan of his work, even when he runs under the ball a little, he's just always creating a contest. I like him up forward and also enjoy seeing drew play key forward but have spurts in the ruck / and leading up the ground, brings the best defender out and allows ben to get some space. Ideally, I'd like to see Ben Brown + Petrie next year ( i dont think we can give waite another year ) with higgins + wood + LT + Garner roaming around. it's looking exciting. I think we'll all agree Drew looks better moving around the ground and taking 10% of game time in defence and majak daw has little forward awareness and is best suited in rotating ruck support + ruck rover rotations.

Could not believe my eyes when I saw him in the ruck last night. Idiotic with Maj and Drew in the side.
I remembered this. I said to myself wtf is Brown doing in the ruck? In all seriousness we really cant get anything right on field.
