50 metre penalty- Time for it to go

The 50 metre penalty is too high a penalty.
Id rather see a 25 metre penalty introduced and get rid of the 50 .
Too harsh a penalty for what can be a minor twitch of the toes when standing the mark or at the whim of an umpire who doesn’t always get it right.
As it now stands, the 50 m penalty can be a game changer.

25 metres is too little, otherwise if you've given away the free then why not wrestle them to the ground? You'll only give up 25 for it?
The issue is umpires handing out 50s like candy as they've done this year. Pay 50 for stuff that actually gives an unfair advantage (like lying on top of your opponent after giving away the free/mark), not silly stuff that hurts the ump's feelings but doesn't cause any real harm.

The game has been ruined by over umpiring and 50m penalties are just the icing on top.

Why not for standing the mark or descent transgressions have the player on the mark not allowed to move. This includes jumping or arms up until the player with the free disposes, bounces the ball or is tackled.
