Honestly, I wouldn't put Stringer that high. I would've put Dixon above him.

Pretty damn good list so far, it's hard especially when you're measuring KPF's and KPD's against midfielders. I think Grundy is a bit high, but it's hard to fault it.

I rate Stringer almost as highly as The Bont.

It is difficult - Grundy got special consideration for being a ruckman, and Dixon for being a tall. As in, I realise it will take them time to develop into their full potential, whereas some of the mids are ready-made and the size of 5+ year AFL mids by the time they are drafted.

Anyone care to have a guess at the top 15? Remembering I've forgotten Astbury and Boyd and hence they won't feature in it.

I'm guessing the remaining players are:

Bontempelli, Stringer, MacRae, Daniher (first 4 have already been confirmed) Wines, Miles, Coniglio, Aish, Shiel (he's played exactly 50 games so I'm not sure if he qualifies), Whitfield, O'Maera, Martin, Tyson, Taylor, Viney.

Maybe MacDonald or Neale too.

Bit disappointing if Neale doesn't make it.
Thought Sutcliffe would perhaps make it as well, even though he probably won't be as big of a star than most of the others.
Not suggesting that I expect Neale or Sutcliffe to be top 15, but thought they'd make the top 50 - mainly Neale.
Good list though anyway, nice read.

He doesn't, sorry. Definitely one of the types of players that could be 35-50 but there are heaps. I think he is being played out of position somewhat too? Think he could go alright as a midfielder

He isn't getting top 15 ahead of the other players left..

Ok, so the next 5 coming up in the next half-hour. As this list was intended for those who had played an AFL senior game at the end of 2014, Jesse Hogan does miss out. At the end, I'll do an 'updated top 50' (just a list, no write-ups), where Hogan, Boyd, Astbury are in, maybe Sutcliffe, maybe Brayshaw etc.

edit: Scott Lycett looks a good young ruckman too who I've missed out.

15. Jack Martin - 12 games, 10 goals - One of the four '17 year old picks', along with O'Meara, Hogan and Crouch, Martin has had an up-and-down start to his career so far. Originating from Western Australia, he spent a year on the Gold Coast list before making his debut in round 1 2014, widely hyped as the man to beat for the Rising Star. That debut lasted all of 10 minutes, before dislocating his shoulder. He came back later in the season, with the highlights of his season being a 19 disposal 4 goal game against West Coast, for which he earned the Rising Star, and a 17 disposal 9 mark game against Essendon to end the season. An athletic, skillful forward/midfielder, who can run it through the ground and lead well up forward. Talked up highly by Shaun Burgoyne, for his maturity, composure and skills, after the Indigenous All-Stars game, Martin has a bright future. At this stage of the list, any one of the top 15-20 could end up be the best, and so exposed form has been taken into account, hence the highly talented Martin with only 12 games being down the list.

14. Jack Viney - 34 games, 8 goals - In my opinion, the forgotten man of young inside midfielders. With all the hype being on him as a Father/Son pick back in 2012, the spotlight has dimmed a bit, but for no good reason from what I can see. Still only 20 years old, he enters his 3rd season in 2015. Showed fairly remarkable consistency in 2014, obtaining 20 or more disposals in 13 out of 14 weeks from rounds 4 to 18, racking up reasonable tackle numbers (63) and contested possession numbers (125) for a guy who had only played 14 games before that run and was 19 years old. A fine young leader, watch this guy start to get recognised a bit more as Melbourne improve their performances, and guys like Brayshaw, Vandenberg and Newton form the support group to Jones, Tyson, Vince and Viney. A player of the future, but I do think he needs to kick some more goals.

13. Lachie Whitfield - 30 games, 16 goals - One of the more underhyped number 1 draft picks in recent memory, it by no means indicates he's been underwhelming. A talented young GWS midfielder, who is often overlooked as plaudits go to more accomplished players such as Ward, Treloar and Greene. There isn't much Lachie doesn't do though. An accountable midfielder, his best weapons include his athleticism (above average speed and stamina), his ability to win the ball at stoppages, and is a genuine two-sided player. After the start of his 2014 was derailed by a foot injury, he returned mid-season and was extremely impressive, the highlights being a 32 disposal game in an oh-so-close loss to eventual premiers Hawthorn and a 32 disposal and 1 goal game against Brisbane, for which he earned 2 Brownlow votes. His 11 game season was finally ended with a shoulder injury. In 2015, people from the outside will be hoping to see a full season from Lachie to get a really good idea of what he can produce, but I think the Giants will be happy to see him develop some consistency and put a bit more muscle on to help him at the contests.

12. Stephen Coniglio - 44 games, 13 goals - The WA product, who WA fans have long wished chooses to make the return home one day, has shown only glimpses of his ability in his 3 seasons at GWS. This is not due to his form though, rather, injuries have taken a hold of him at some stage each season. In 2012, he played just 12 games as calf and hamstring injuries kept him from a full season. In 2013, he got 18 games in, which was promising, before shoulder and thumb injuries kept him to 14 games in 2014. Don't be fooled though, this young player was on the cusp in 2014. He was huge in the Giant's now famous win over Sydney in round 1, earning 2 Brownlow votes for a 27 disposal, 11 tackles, 1 goal masterclass in the wet, and two weeks later played another fantastic game to be important in getting the Giants over the line against Melbourne, with 27 disposals, 14 contested possessions and 14 clearances. Considered a rising leader by the Giants, as he has been named as one of the emerging leaders at the Giants. As with Whitfield, his focus will not merely be on 2015, but on his development for the future. Having committed long-term to the Giants in the past, they hope he will again stay loyal, as he looks a ripper of a player who can do the dirty work inside, and finish it in style on the outside.

11. Jake Stringer - 29 games, 41 goals - The big bodied forward had a break-out season in 2014, kicking 26 goals and impressing both internally and externally. His first half of 2014 was underwhelming, but had some big games in the back half, with a 13 disposal 4 goal game v Melbourne, 10 disposals 5 goals v Essendon, 16 disposals 4 goals v St Kilda and ended the season with a gallant performance in a losing side, 14 disposals and 4 goals v GWS, kicking 22 goals in 9 games. You'd hope in 2015 he improves as Tom Boyd improves the forward structure, and if Boyd and Redpath can take the number 1 and 2 defenders, then Crameri and Stringer should get off the leash a bit. He's also been thrown around a bit, both to help the team and progress his game, even being thrown as the loose man down back against Hawthorn, and going through the midfield at times. A lot of responsibility for Jake, who became a father in 2014, and we will surely see his game progress even further in years to come.
