Angus Monfries will be a Port player in 2017 after being offered a one-year deal. Monfries previously missed the 2016 season – the final on his previous contract – following a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport banning 34 past and present Essendon players for one year.

Monfries speaks in first appearance since ban lifted

“It was exciting last week to wake up and be able to go in the car and drive to training, see all the coaches again and have a kick.
“It’s been a long year, glad it’s all over with now and able to rock up and train and enjoy footy again.”
“The support from the Port Adelaide footy club has been fantastic, and my friends and family along the way,” Monfries said.
“Not being around my friends and teammates around the club was probably the hardest thing.
“I’ve lost a little bit of weight to try and be a little bit lighter and be able to cover the ground a little bit more.

Not straight away, no. He may get a few games at some point this year, but I wouldn't be holding my breath.
