JD wont touch it if he gets Glass or McKenzie but someone out of Hurley, resting ruckman and Crammers would get the next defender down and hopefully exploit it. This is why JD playing is a must for us, would keep him and bring in TBC.
In the game he tore up May, then Lynch got injured. May went forward and JoeD got a different opponent which handled him much better, unsure who that was?

On the weight discussion, players of his size that play up forward are generally between 100 and 105 kg. Tippett 104, M Clark 103, Petrie 101, Dixon 105, Buddy 102, so that's the range I want him in
think glass will play on jd. dont subscribe to the theory that its a given that glass will destroy jd. joe has shown that he can get the ball on the lead and this should be his emphasis.
I may be going against the grain here but I can't see any similarities between Buddy and JD. They are/were both lean early on in their career. That's about the extent of it.
Joe will be a better mark and kick
Buddy much quicker and agile
We should be looking at halfway between Nick Riewoldt and Lance Franklin, IMO.
Both are broad, reasonably lean guys, at 193cm & 96kg and 196cm & 102kg respectively.
Joe reminds me a lot more of Buddy in his shape and style of play, although Buddy's freak genetics probably allow him to be 100kg+ and still move like a midfielder.
You've also got to keep in mind that because Joe's 202cm he's going have a few kilos head start, so I'd like him to be around 100kg at his peak.
It should be a slow gain, and I agree that he shouldn't get too heavy. Mobility will be his friend.
BTW - I reckon Buddy is going to start to fade in a year or two. He is already looking like he is finding it hard to keep the weight down. Once he loses his mobility, he is gone.

I love watching him play, he's by far my favourite player in the entire league to watch...
but there's a part of me that'll feel vindicated, because of people (not all of them Hawthorn supporters) wouldn't hear of it when I suggested back in 2008 that he wouldn't be able to sustain it.
I mentioned that Lloyd was a superstar by the age of 20 (and I mean a genuine superstar, not just in the way that Luke Darcy might call Jamie Elliot a superstar), and that even he lost his mobility to his detriment.
I was told that Buddy'd never slow down like Lloyd did; that he'd dominate right into his mid 30's.
Also, has anyone noticed the look he gets on his face when he misses a goal? It's so lols that I almost want him to miss it so that I can have a geegle.

He is an interesting fella, Buddy. You know that the only reason he didn't go #1 in the draft was that some clubs were put off by his psychological testing... the results suggested that his confidence was too high Classic.. That sort of thing can lead to short cuts though. When you are young, you can get away with it.. As he gets older..? Not so sure.
Anyway. Joe Daniher will be a gun if his body holds together.
