His around the grond work is superior bar none, if he didn't have a couple of shockers goal wise there'd be no discussion on who the in form forward is.
I don't think the discussion is about who the in-form forward is, but about if he is the best forward in the comp.

Sorry to tell ya this, but currently, he is not.

My list would be as follows.

  1. Cameron
  2. Franklin
  3. Kennedy
  4. Daniher
  5. Hawkins
  6. Walker
  7. Lynch
  8. J.Riewoldt
4th place ain't bad, and to be fair, if he improves his accuracy over say 60% he jumps to the top of the list.

On the other hand, I think he offers more than the three above him, in that he is so busy around the ground.

Would guess probably 8 or 9 of those 13 the last few weeks have been from general play and not set shots. Variance is a hell of a thing, good thing is he gets so many shots on goal in so many different ways that he's not just limited to getting them via set shots.

5 goal last week, 5 goals this week. The cool thing is, look at the different types of goals he's kicking. Last week, from outside 50 on the run, set shot. This week, from the the goal square pluck out of the ruck and off the deck.

Very exciting player!

Don't forget within 30m directley in front which has been his worst spot to kick from his entire career.

Despite continuing his rate of natural improvement, two things have helped JD's form this year - He is spending more time in the ruck, while Hooker's role is giving him more freedom.
Having a go in the ruck has allowed him freedom to run around.

His tap work is actually very good!

Need to get him signed up ASAP. The better he gets the more clubs will circle.
There is absolutely zero chance that he would ever leave. Massive family ties at the club, up and coming leader who is determined to make something of the team after going through its darkest ever times, plus just look how happy the guy is playing footy with his best mates. He'll get a juicy pay rise, but could honestly see him knocking back offers of double just to stay here.
