Yeah i suppose our midfield needs to cop some blame, alot of those kicks were pretty much perfect out into space for Schulz.
It so frustrating to see how easily Port went coast to coast.

Our midfield needs to seriously address their tackling and defensive game.
Still hopefully Hansen gets a chance soon.
Tef is on the money. We need L. Delaney on Sunday and he was terribly exposed on the weekend against Shulz, who truth be told has developed into a more than capable FF. Narni stays in too, with Hunter and Spud. C. Delaney out for a ball carrier.

Hansen forward.

He's a very high draft pick. NM are playing Brisbane who aside from GWS and Melbourne haven't done much..

Give him game time. Let him sink or swim.

The other benefit of playing Hansen is that the Facebook types will combust.

Just heard one call SEN to say the team's performance this year shows "deadwood", especially Hansen, needs to be moved on. Even KB knew enough to say it was a bit rough blaming a guy who hasn't been in the team for what's happened this season.

Luke needs to stay in the side to match up on Brown or Merrett.

He will be much better suited to either of those two than he was on Schulz.

Of course platter served delivery from the Brisbane midfield will need to be addressed.

If Brown and Merret get the service Schulz got last weekend then it won't matter who we play on them.
Luke will get smashed by either IMO. His best game was his first on Brown, and Brown still kicked 4. Not up to it.

I say put him in the side for this Sunday.
Play him in defense, we all know he can take a contested mark.
I say he comes in for Delaney.

Delaney got belted last week but he is suited to the strong wrestling type. Hansen would have been ideal on Schulz. Can go with him for pace and has long arms for the spoil. Delaney likes the gorillas and debuted against Brown and did well. In the horses for courses approach Delaney should stay despite being reamed.

Hansen is a good addition maybe for Cam Delaney. But to say that a few extra sessions suddenly makes him competitive flies in the face of all empirical evidence and grasps at straws. Hope springs eternal.

Not playing Grima on Schulz was a major **** up.

Hansen needs to come in and make FF his own. Crash packs, fly for marks, be aggressive.

In Luke's defense didn't Brown get 2-3 from 50's (not in his control) or free kicks?

Someone always seems to get off the leash against us either a small or tall forward.

We need to step up and struggle the life out of the Lions. It starts with our midfield. Too often they get an easy clearance and have several open options.

Need to give Hansen a go at some point this is as good a time as any. Bring back Scotty Mac too

IF he is utilised properly.

I would play him at full forward and bring Drew out to centre half forward.

This would straighten us up a lot more and allow us to benefit more from longer kicking.
Agree with this, he has ridiculous hands (like Drew) and would make our forward line a lot more dangerous.

Remember him clunking everything when Drew was out all year? Can someone refresh my memory as to why these 2 didnt work together well when Drew returned?

I love Lachie and want him back in the side. But all his clunking was in 2010. Last year he couldn't judge a mark to save himself. He had just started to warm back into it when he smashed his shoulder and never got it back.

Even we anti-Hansenists must accept that the guy's "hot" and "cold" are worlds apart.

I just hope this extra dedication GBS's mates have observed is a sign of good things to come :thumbsu:

Grima kept Butcher to 1 touch before being subbed. He kept Westoff to 3 touches. Neither scored on Grima.

Grima was moved onto Schulz for 1 minute. Shulz didn't get a possession. In that same single minute Westoff took an uncontested mark 3 metres in front of his new opponent L.Delaney and kicked a goal. The switch back was made instantly. Someone was going to score heavily on Delaney, BON preferred it be Schulz for mobility reasons.

In all this defending of Delaney due to lace out service perhaps someone can explain how Grima kept 3 different opponents to 5 touches total and no score for the day?

Might be a bit simplistic but I think we look most dangerous when Drew is in the square with plenty of space in front. H shouldnt be anywhere near him.

Whoever gets CHF needs to be mobile enough to provide a target up the field......whether thats Tarrant or Hansen or Black Im not sure but we need to forget the resting ruckmen scenario. Its not working as neither are mobile enough or defensive enough.

I heard that too H to h, in the car, and I almost drove into a light pole. FB think at it's finest!

In 2011 Lachie started the season with a bung shoulder after injuring it in the preseason game against GWS. Pretty sure he had surgery on it at the end of the year. He then was asked to play a decoy role, dragging his opponent away from Dish as much as possible. He then hurt his back. He was going at better than a goal and 6 marks a game as a forward early last year despite playing that decoy role. I reckon he can be much more dangerous than that if utilised properly.

Yep. It also allows Drew to to take the ruckwork in the forward half and allows Todd to drop back a kick behind the play.

Hansen is actually a better mark than Drew from the front position and Drews tremedous work rate on the ground would benefit the side much greater up the ground and the crumbers can sit closer to goal and buzz around Lachies feet for the scraps.

This is a return to a classical forward set up.
If there's one thing myself and OS agree on and always have, is that Lachy should be thrown deep at FF, our team looks so much better that way.

He's doing extra sessions? Get him in the side. He has a willingness to bust his arse, he should be rewarded. Would be great if we heard a story of the rest hearing about his solitary extra sessions and turning up to run alongside him, however, team spirit/cohesion doesn't seem to be a strong point these days.

We need someone apart from Drew who the team can rely on to clunk a grab, Lachie is that guy.

Because they played Drew from the square and made Hansen the decoy/CHF. That's not his game. Drew's best game is also from the square, but is more capable than Hansen at playing CHF/relief ruck.

Massively important. He has to show that he really wants each and every contest. Hard to prove that when you look as laconic as he does but he still needs to give it a red hot crack.
Yep. He has been gifted AFL football until now. He needs to attack every contest like he's a rookie pick playing for his career. If Lachie can do this on his return then we'll have a star on our hands.

there is no doubt the kid has ability, i just hope it doesnt take till half way through his career for him to wake up and realise that if he puts in the effort he could be a valuble player.

look at the way richo improved late in his career once his attitude adjusted and his workrate/attitiude improved, he damn near won the brownloaw in his 2nd last season.

it would be a shame if he turns out to be a late bloomer like mark the fridge roberts was, or even worse if he shows his best footy at another club. (like the fridge did fortunately for us at the time)

I guess in a clutch situation, game on the line, set shot to win the game, Bon felt that we were better served letting Schulz take that opportunity rather than Westoff.

It's not just about what it is best for Lachie it's about what is best for the team.

Drew is our best current option at centre half forward due to his more complete all round game. Period.

It's then a matter of chooosing one of Tazza, Azza or Milky to play the trusty side kick.

We then load up around their feet, with LT, Harps and get fricken Boomer down there amongst it.

Bingo, there is a multi purpose forward line.

Sounds good.

Now lets keep them down there.
