As ok as Lachie went yesterday, I think Edwards kicks straighter. I do want to see Lachie get another week just to see if he can do even better, but he needs to kick those goals or Edwards or Black will come in.

Just a thought, was yesterday the first time Petrie and Hansen have worked well together in the same forward line? I don't recall many other instances, if it has happened.
Perhaps working with another KPF was what Lachie was working on in the VFL.

I wonder if the impact of playing some consistent footy with Taz at VFL was the more functional forward line we saw.

I think allowing Petrie to roam the full length of the ground was the key.
Bingo!!!!

I called it the day we played Carlton in the NAB games. Drew is a better contributor and North are a better team when he moves around the ground and isn't anchored to the forward 50.

Based on career form prior to 2012, I have next to zero faith if it's Hansen lining up fo goal. I have nightmares about that friggin ball wobbling approach. OS u want to have a crack at the coaches, by all means take fire on whoever's collecting our hard earned in the role of goal kicking coach. It's shit house.

John Longmire also played ~30-40 games at full back before he clicked.
It can also work the other way. Look at Fairley and Martyn. The two Willi/Newport boys. Martyn a few times won the U/19 goalkicking and Fairley played the majority of his career at CHB yet kicked nigh on 150 goals.

His last kick before he retired was one of the best moments of my North life. What a way to sign off.
Correct me if I am wrong but...
Shagga had to go and ruin the trivia snippet in 99 up until then the last goal in a NMFC winning GF was kicked by the number 6*.

*admittedly the goals he did kick and norm smith performance were handy

I really like this set up. Was a bit perplexed by the original selection and had no idea where hansen would play. But I watched the replay of the game yesterday coz I couldnt get to the game and I have to say that I was impressed with how it worked. And the good thing about it is that if we need an extra backmen Hansen is able to go down back with us still having our 2 main forward options in Tarrant and Petrie and its the same when petrie goes in the ruck so its very flexible.

It has more to do with our forward line being unpredictable than Petrie playing well up the ground clunking some marks. It's almost better he drops them sometimes, thb he can be very slow getting it on if he marks it. When he drops the ball he seems to regain urgency.

Reckon OS would be all over that though.

Am I the only one who hated his game on the weekend?
I suspect so speedy. Even if he was loved by everyone, prior to his half season in the VFL, I reckon most people would understand the game on Sunday was his first back at AFL level since 2011, and hence give him a break. I reckon he'll only improve from here and I liked what I saw from him on Sunday with that in mind. We look better as a unit with him impacting the game in some way, especially physically.

Flossy kicked 5 goals in a losing final in 1983 as a 17 year old when he was still in high school.
I was in awe of him as he used to rock up on Monday mornings wearing the club track suit.

The thing that bugs me about this is the next time we get flogged no doubt Lachie n Robbie will be quiet and every man and their donkey will be going on about how this setup is deeply flawed and everyone always knew it. I mean, it is the internet and all but...

Anyway, I love it. I really hope it works.

As long as they maintain their defensive pressure (like Hansen's great chase on Sunday) then there's no reason that all 3 talls can't play. Adelaide have a good list of key defenders, but if all are playing well we can stretch teams with a lack of KP stocks, provided our talls apply pressure and we go in with 3 good smaller forwards (maybe Thomas, Harvey and Patch?)
