??

His commitment has never been his problem. He has been restricted by injury, but the club have stuck with him as they know what he can provide.

Well I'd dispute that as he has regularly rocked up in average shape. This year he looks in great shape.

I believe he knows it's make or break and seeing all the others cut I'm sure he is very grateful and wants to repay the faith.

Yep. Brads used to talk about his commitments to rehab even in the darkest days of his injuries.

I think its the benefit of living with LMac. Garner's career would grind him down I reckon. Its hard to get motivated when you have ongoing hamstring issues. living with someone like LMac, who has an infectious attitude to stuff would have helped him thru those times when "its hard to get up and go thru the this crap again when odds are (I'm) just gonna do (my) leg again."

Earlier in the month I got told he had a minor back/hip complaint, haven’t been able to get any info since. He hasn’t played at all in any of the match sim in recent weeks has he? Anyone seen him out on the track or is he on light duties.

Surely another year of minor injuries/niggles signals the end.

Garner and Will Walker appear to be travelling on the same train again so far. It must be so frustrating for them.

Darren Crocker was "managed" for large chunks of his career. Taylor is the same.

Agree but Crocks probably offered a bit more leadership than Tay Tay.

I agreed with retaining Taylor but that is in the hope we're competitive while he's still in his playing window.

He's the bayonet, not the rifle.

Player review #6 Taylor Garners.

Well yes TG, I remember when we called his name with our first pick in the 2012 drafts, pick #15. There was the odd smartarse remark about him being related to Joel Garner, we did all laugh if I recall correctly.

Well that's not nearly as funny as him being compared to Fyfe and Bartel, although in fairness Garner has managed about 30 more games than Bartel since 2016 so the joke is squarely on Jimmy. Although someone has just pointed out Jimmy retired at the completion of 2015.

Anywho yes 2013 and it would be rd 20 before we'd finally get to see Taylor in the big leagues. One disposal that day, but from memory his positioning and ball use won over plenty on BF. It was clearly the start of big things. He managed a further game in rd 23 and did ok.

We all couldn't wait for season 2014 and the TGS- the Taylor Garner show. He never got to the dance floor that year, alas it would prove to be just a hiccup we all thought.

Well 2015 and we didn't have to wait long for his arrival on the big stage rd 15 to be exact. Actually a little fun fact 85.8 million people in the world would have died between Taylors second and third game. I of course am not suggesting he was personally responsible but heck he certainly didn't help matters.
Talk about over doing it he played 9 of our last 10 games in 2015 and boy did we pay for that in 2016 where he only managed 3 games due to severe exhaustion.

Who would have thought that a break would do Taylor the world of good, he hit 2017 like a man on a mission! Amassed 18 games only the second time in his career he'd reached double figures and I know how proud he must of felt. I'd done similar but in cricket of course. And like Taylor is a forward I'm a number 4 specialist bat. Never understood why the bowlers would all start arguing about who should bowl when I strode to the crease. 🤷‍♂️

So 2018, 19 & 20 saw Taylor muster 11 games out of a possible 61. Lucky for Taylor Covid reduced the amount of games he could miss. One of the very few that saw Covid as a positive.

Which brings us to 2021 and Taylor's role in our push for glory. Interestingly he missed our first couple of practice matches but I'm sure he'll be primed for a big year as odd numbers seem to be his thing.

Not calling him a shitmen/journeymen but if a Phil Baker was known as a big game player. Taylor can only be known as an off field specialist.
