Autopsy 65! point win against North

Loved Parker and I wish him all the best but he was simply not part of our future.
Unlike that whippersnapper Taylor Adams!

I'm being facetious as I wasn't against the Adams signing, but every team needs veterans. "Not part of our future" isn't a valid reason to discard a player when your team is in the premiership window.

Let's check in at the end of the season and see if Parker had a bigger impact than some of the blokes he'd apparently be holding back, or perhaps even our captain ....

They're different players regardless. Adams is better in tight and was offering a hell of a lot in a midfield struggling to release the contested ball - he was a need last season and should've played out the year. We lost that when Parker replaced Adams midfield minutes. Parker wanted to be the guy who won the clearance rather than release it to our cleaner mids, and the result was ineffectual meters gained and turnovers.

In saying that Adams is falling into the same basket as our midfield progresses, and no doubt a 3 year contract was a stretch - I think the development of Jordon and with Heeney and Warner consolidating their midfield craft is what has started the shift for a player like Adams no longer being a need. Prior to that though you can rest assured Parker wasn't the answer to that problem, he was part of the problem - and i don't mean that in a bad way, his style just no longer suited us effectively.

Even if it came down to it, i'd rather see Adams in todays midfield than Parker - releasing our other mids is way more valuable for us right now than trying to be the 'main man'.

Ultimately at the time our midfield group was struggling, and as much as you trust the process a player like Adams was a need and was difficult to tell how long that would be for. Since then we looked to have progressed, that's not to say we have completely turned the corner im still not 100% convinced we've corrected our contested ability (i think it'll waver in periods) hence why i think Adams could still have a part to play this year.

Imo we'll hit a rich vein of form after that performance. It 'clicked' for us, especially through our contest work. Dominating clearances & then multiple players at every contest pressuring the opposition. Loved it.

My only concern is the dinky low percentage kicks in our defence resulting in turnovers. I think Lloyd did it early in the game & then Florent. There's no real need for those kicks, it cost us in other matches & it's become a trend now. I know we want to change angles but need to get smarter with our ball use in defence.

Our fwd 50 entries looked much better too.

just need Blakey back to his best

I've loved his last two games, I would rather him get 20 ish and do him job on his opponent rather than 26+ and turn it over 3-4 times with laughable kicks. I feel he's been heaps smarter the last few weeks and used Bice, etc

He was solid, but he isn't at his best yet imo, would be massive to get him ball in hand more

Think it's somewhere between the two, having him get it say 23 times is probably the right area, I feel any more he's turning the thing over too often, doesn't have to go for those risky things when Miami is there

Great contest against the pies this week, if either team is off then it'll be a blow out imo. I think we have too much firepower for them. Expecting Chad to have a massive bounce back game. Would be awesome to smack em.

Do we give Sheldrick another run at sub or get him a full game in the VFL? I can see the benefits of both, he had more of an impact as sub but was that just due to match situation? It would be good for him to have a full game soon though. No other changes for mine.

Don’t think there is any VFL this weekend. A VFL rep team is playing an SANFL team in Adelaide as part of Gather Round.

I watched the whole replay yesterday.
By the time he came on. The game was well and truly in the bag.
North were just a rabble.
However he did make an impact.
Its either him or CoWarner.

I can see an argument for each.

This was my concern when it comes to guys like him, Hanily and a few others that it's so hard to get an accurate gauge on their performances.
